We develop a machinery of Chen iterated integrals for higher Hochschild complexes. These are complexes whose differentials are modeled on an arbitrary simplicial set much in the same way the ordinary Hochschild differential is modeled on the circle. We use these to give algebraic models for general mapping spaces and define and study the surface product operation on the homology of mapping spaces of surfaces of all genera into a manifold. This is an analogue of the loop product in string topology. As an application, we show this product is homotopy invariant. We prove Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg type theorems and use them to give explicit formulae for the surface product of odd spheres and Lie groups.

This paper generalizes the normally ordered tensor product from Tate vector spaces to Tate objects over arbitrary exact categories. We show how to lift bi-right exact monoidal structures, duality functors, and construct external Homs. We list some applications: (1) Pontryagin duality uniquely extends to n-Tate objects in locally compact abelian groups; (2) Adeles of a flag can be written as ordered tensor products; (3) Intersection numbers can be interpreted via these tensor products.

This article investigates duals for bimodule categories over finite tensor categories. We show that finite bimodule categories form a tricategory and discuss the dualities in this tricategory using inner homs. We consider inner-product bimodule categories over pivotal tensor categories with additional structure on the inner homs. Inner-product module categories are related to Frobenius algebras and lead to the notion of $*$-Morita equivalence for pivotal tensor categories. We show that inner-product bimodule categories form a tricategory with two duality operations and an additional pivotal structure. This is work is motivated by defects in topological field theories.
In this work we consider the Gutt star product viewed as an associative deformation of the symmetric algebra S^bullet(g) over a Lie algebra g and discuss its continuity properties: we establish a locally convex topology on S^bullet(g) such that the Gutt star product becomes continuous. Here we have to assume a mild technical condition on g: it has to be an Asymptotic Estimate Lie algebra. This condition is e.g. fulfilled automatically for all finite-dimensional Lie algebras. The resulting completion of the symmetric algebra can be described explicitly and yields not only a locally convex algebra but also the Hopf algebra structure maps inherited from the universal enveloping algebra are continuous. We show that all Hopf algebra structure maps depend analytically on the deformation parameter. The construction enjoys good functorial properties.

This paper describes a relationship between essentially finite groupoids and 2-vector spaces. In particular, we show to construct 2-vector spaces of Vect-valued presheaves on such groupoids. We define 2-linear maps corresponding to functors between groupoids in both a covariant and contravariant way, which are ambidextrous adjoints. This is used to construct a representation--a weak functor--from Span(Gpd) (the bicategory of groupoids and spans of groupoids) into 2Vect. In this paper we prove this and give the construction in detail.

In our recent papers [Sh1,2], we introduced a {it twisted tensor product} of dg categories, and provided, in terms of it, {it a contractible 2-operad $mathcal{O}$}, acting on the category of small dg categories, in which the natural transformations are derived. We made use of some homotopy theory developed in [To] to prove the contractibility of the 2-operad $mathcal{O}$. The contractibility is an important issue, in vein of the theory of Batanin [Ba1,2], according to which an action of a contractible $n$-operad on $C$ makes $C$ a weak $n$-category. In this short note, we provide a new elementary proof of the contractibility of the 2-operad $mathcal{O}$. The proof is based on a direct computation, and is independent from the homotopy theory of dg categories (in particular, it is independent from [To] and from Theorem 2.4 of [Sh1]).
