The reaction p(e,ep)pi^0 has been studied at Q^2=0.2 (GeV/c)^2 in the region of W=1232 MeV. From measurements left and right of q, cross section asymmetries rho_LT have been obtained in forward kinematics rho_LT(theta_pi^0=20deg) = (-11.68 +/- 2.36_stat +/- 2.36_sys)$ and backward kinematics rho_LT(theta_pi^0=160deg) =(12.18 +/- 0.27_stat +/- 0.82_sys). Multipole ratios Re(S_1+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 and Re(S_0+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 were determined in the framework of the MAID2003 model. The results are in agreement with older data. The unusally strong negative Re(S_0+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 required to bring also the result of Kalleicher et al. in accordance with the rest of the data is almost excluded.

The parity-violating (PV) asymmetry of inclusive $pi^-$ production in electron scattering from a liquid deuterium target was measured at backward angles. The measurement was conducted as a part of the G0 experiment, at a beam energy of 360 MeV. The physics process dominating pion production for these kinematics is quasi-free photoproduction off the neutron via the $Delta^0$ resonance. In the context of heavy-baryon chiral perturbation theory (HB$chi$PT), this asymmetry is related to a low energy constant $d_Delta^-$ that characterizes the parity-violating $gamma$N$Delta$ coupling. Zhu et al. calculated $d_Delta^-$ in a model benchmarked by the large asymmetries seen in hyperon weak radiative decays, and predicted potentially large asymmetries for this process, ranging from $A_gamma^-=-5.2$ to $+5.2$ ppm. The measurement performed in this work leads to $A_gamma^-=-0.36pm 1.06pm 0.37pm 0.03$ ppm (where sources of statistical, systematic and theoretical uncertainties are included), which would disfavor enchancements considered by Zhu et al. proportional to $V_{ud}/V_{us}$. The measurement is part of a program of inelastic scattering measurements that were conducted by the G0 experiment, seeking to determine the $N-Delta$ axial transition form-factors using PV electron scattering.
In a p(e_pol,ep)pi_0 out-of-plane coincidence experiment at the 3-spectrometer setup of the Mainz Microtron MAMI, the beam-helicity asymmetry has been precisely measured around the energy of the Delta(1232) resonance and Q^2 = 0.2 (GeV/c)^2. The results are in disagreement with three up-to-date model calculations. This is interpreted as lack of understanding of the non-resonant background, which in dynamical models is related to the pion cloud.
The recoil proton polarization has been measured in the p (vec e,evec p) pi^0 reaction in parallel kinematics around W = 1232 MeV, Q^2 = 0.121 (GeV/c)^2 and epsilon = 0.718 using the polarized c.w. electron beam of the Mainz Microtron. Due to the spin precession in a magnetic spectrometer, all three proton polarization components P_x/P_e = (-11.4 pm 1.3 pm 1.4) %, P_y = (-43.1 pm 1.3 pm 2.2) %, and P_z/P_e = (56.2 pm 1.5 pm 2.6) % could be measured simultaneously. The Coulomb quadrupole to magnetic dipole ratio CMR = (-6.4pm 0.7_{stat}pm 0.8_{syst}) % was determined from P_x in the framework of the Mainz Unitary Isobar Model. The consistency among the reduced polarizations and the extraction of the ratio of longitudinal to transverse response is discussed.
Quadrupole amplitudes in the $gamma^{*}NtoDelta$ transition are associated with the issue of nucleon deformation. A search for these small amplitudes has been the focus of a series of measurements undertaken at Bates/MIT by the OOPS collaboration. We report on results from H$(e,e^prime p)pi^0$ data obtained at $Q^2= 0.070$ (GeV/c)$^2$ and invariant mass of W=1155 MeV using the out-of-plane detection technique with the OOPS spectrometers. The $sigma_{LT}$ and $sigma_{T}+epsiloncdot$ $sigma_{L}$ response functions were isolated. These results, along with those of previous measurements at $W$=1172 MeV and $Q^2= 0.127$ (GeV/c)$^2$, aim in elucidating the interplay between resonant and non resonant amplitudes.
We report new precision p(e,e pi+})n measurements in the Delta(1232) resonance at Q2 = 0.127(GeV/c)2 obtained at the MIT-Bates Out-Of-Plane scattering facility. These are the lowest, but non-zero, Q2 measurements in the pi+ channel. The data offer new tests of the theoretical calculations, particularly of the background amplitude contributions. The chiral effective field theory and Sato-Lee model calculations are not in agreement with this experiment.
