We give three determinantal expressions for the Hilbert series as well as the Hilbert function of a Pfaffian ring, and a closed form product formula for its multiplicity. An appendix outlining some basic facts about degeneracy loci and applications to multiplicity formulae for Pfaffian rings is also included.

In this paper we introduce an effective method to construct rational deformations between couples of Borel-fixed ideals. These deformations are governed by flat families, so that they correspond to rational curves on the Hilbert scheme. Looking globally at all the deformations among Borel-fixed ideals defining points on the same Hilbert scheme, we are able to give a new proof of the connectedness of the Hilbert scheme and to introduce a new criterion to establish whenever a set of points defined by Borel ideals lies on a common component of the Hilbert scheme. The paper contains a detailed algorithmic description of the technique and all the algorithms are made available.
Let k be an arbitrary field (of arbitrary characteristic) and let X = [x_{i,j}] be a generic m x n matrix of variables. Denote by I_2(X) the ideal in k[X] = k[x_{i,j}: i = 1, ..., m; j = 1, ..., n] generated by the 2 x 2 minors of X. We give a recursive formulation for the lengths of the k[X]-module k[X]/(I_2(X) + (x_{1,1}^q,..., x_{m,n}^q)) as q varies over all positive integers using Grobner basis. This is a generalized Hilbert-Kunz function, and our formulation proves that it is a polynomial function in q. We give closed forms for the cases when m is at most 2, %as well as the closed forms for some other special length functions. We apply our method to give closed forms for these Hilbert-Kunz functions for cases $m le 2$.

Sets of zero-dimensional ideals in the polynomial ring $k[x,y]$ that share the same leading term ideal with respect to a given term ordering are known to be affine spaces called Grobner cells. Conca-Valla and Constantinescu parametrize such Grobner cells in terms of certain canonical Hilbert-Burch matrices for the lexicographical and degree-lexicographical term orderings, respectively. In this paper, we give a parametrization of $(x,y)$-primary ideals in Grobner cells which is compatible with the local structure of such ideals. More precisely, we extend previous results to the local setting by defining a notion of canonical Hilbert-Burch matrices of zero-dimensional ideals in the power series ring $k[[x,y]]$ with a given leading term ideal with respect to a local term ordering.
This paper is devoted to the study of multigraded algebras and multigraded linear series. For an $mathbb{N}^s$-graded algebra $A$, we define and study its volume function $F_A:mathbb{N}_+^sto mathbb{R}$, which computes the asymptotics of the Hilbert function of $A$. We relate the volume function $F_A$ to the volume of the fibers of the global Newton-Okounkov body $Delta(A)$ of $A$. Unlike the classical case of standard multigraded algebras, the volume function $F_A$ is not a polynomial in general. However, in the case when the algebra $A$ has a decomposable grading, we show that the volume function $F_A$ is a polynomial with non-negative coefficients. We then define mixed multiplicities in this case and provide a full characterization for their positivity. Furthermore, we apply our results on multigraded algebras to multigraded linear series. Our work recovers and unifies recent developments on mixed multiplicities. In particular, we recover results on the existence of mixed multiplicities for (not necessarily Noetherian) graded families of ideals and on the positivity of the multidegrees of multiprojective varieties.
The first goal of the present paper is to study the class groups of the edge rings of complete multipartite graphs, denoted by $Bbbk[K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}]$, where $1 leq r_1 leq cdots leq r_n$. More concretely, we prove that the class group of $Bbbk[K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}]$ is isomorphic to $mathbb{Z}^n$ if $n =3$ with $r_1 geq 2$ or $n geq 4$, while it turns out that the excluded cases can be deduced into Hibi rings. The second goal is to investigate the special class of divisorial ideals of $Bbbk[K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}]$, called conic divisorial ideals. We describe conic divisorial ideals for certain $K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}$ including all cases where $Bbbk[K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}]$ is Gorenstein. Finally, we give a non-commutative crepant resolution (NCCR) of $Bbbk[K_{r_1,ldots,r_n}]$ in the case where it is Gorenstein.
