The effect of changes in hadron properties in a nuclear medium on physical observables is discussed. Highlighted results are, (1) hypernuclei, (2) meosn-nuclear bound states, (3) $K$-meson production in heavy ion collisions, and (4) $J/Psi$ dissociation in a nuclear medium. In addition, results for the near-threshold $omega$- and $phi$-meson productions in proton proton collisions are reported.

Using the light-front pion wave function based on a Bethe-Salpeter amplitude model, we study the properties of the pion in symmetric nuclear matter. The pion model we adopt is well constrained by previous studies to explain the pion properties in vacuum. In order to consistently incorporate the constituent up and down quarks of the pion immersed in symmetric nuclear matter, we use the quark-meson coupling model, which has been widely applied to various hadronic and nuclear phenomena in a nuclear medium with success. We predict the in-medium modifications of the pion lectromagnetic form factor, charge radius and weak decay constant in symmetric nuclear matter.
Results for the $pi + N to Lambda, Sigma + K$ reactions in nuclear matter of Ref. nucl-th/0004011 are presented. To evaluate the in-medium modification of the reaction amplitude as a function of the baryonic density we introduce relativistic, mean-field potentials for the initial, final and intermediate mesonic and baryonic states in the resonance model. These vector and scalar potentials were calculated using the quark meson coupling model. Contrary to earlier work which has not allowed for the change of the cross section in medium, we find that the data for kaon production at SIS energies are consistent with a repulsive $K^+$-nucleus potential.
The hypothesis of limiting fragmentation (LF) or it is called otherwise recently, as extended longitudinal scaling, is an interesting phenomena in high energy multiparticle production process. This paper discusses about different regions of phase space and their importance in hadron production, giving special emphasis on the fragmentation region. Although it was conjectured as a universal phenomenon in high energy physics, with the advent of higher center-of-mass energies, it has become prudent to analyse and understand the validity of such hypothesis in view of the increasing inelastic nucleon-nucleon cross-section ($sigma_{rm in}$). In this work, we revisit the phenomenon of limiting fragmentation for nucleus-nucleus (A+A) collisions in the pseudorapidity distribution of charged particles at various energies. We use energy dependent $sigma_{rm in}$ to transform the charged particle pseudorapidity distributions ($dN^{rm AA}_{ch}/deta$) into differential cross-section per unit pseudorapidity ($dsigma^{rm AA}/deta$) of charged particles and study the phenomenon of LF. We find that in $dsigma^{rm AA}/deta$ LF seems to be violated at LHC energies while considering the energy dependent $sigma_{rm in}$. We also perform a similar study using A Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT) Model with string melting scenario and also find that LF is violated at LHC energies.

We give a short review of the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model, the quark-based model of finite nuclei and hadron interactions in a nuclear medium, highlighting on the relationship with the Skyrme effective nuclear forces. The model is based on a mean field description of nonoverlapping nucleon MIT bags bound by the self-consistent exchange of Lorentz-scalar-isoscalar, Lorentz-vector-isoscalar, and Lorentz-vector-isovector meson fields directly coupled to the light quarks up and down. In conventional nuclear physics the Skyrme effective forces are very popular, but, there is no satisfactory interpretation of the parameters appearing in the Skyrme forces. Comparing a many-body Hamiltonian generated by the QMC model in the zero-range limit with that of the Skyrme force, it is possible to obtain a remarkable agreement between the Skyrme force and the QMC effective interaction. Furthermore, it is shown that 3-body and higher order N-body forces are naturally included in the QMC-generated effective interaction.
In this paper we present a study of in-medium jet modifications performed with JEWEL and PYTHIA 6.4, focusing on the uncertainties related to variations of the perturbative scales and nuclear parton distribution functions (PDFs) and on the impact of the initial and crossover temperature variations of the medium. The simulations are compared to LHC data for the jet spectrum and the nuclear modification factor. We assess the interplay between the choice of nuclear PDFs and different medium parameters and study the impact of nuclear PDFs and the medium on the jet structure via the Lund plane.
