In dense quark matter, the response of the color superconducting gaps to a small variation, $deltamu$, in the chemical potential of the strange quark was studied. The approximation of three massless flavors of quarks and a general ansatz for the color flavor structure of the gap matrix was used. The general pole structure of the quasi-particle propagator in this ansatz is presented. The gap equation was solved using both an NJL interaction model and perturbative single gluon exchange at moderate densities and results are presented for varying values of $deltamu$. Quantitative and qualitative differences in the dependence of the gaps on $deltamu$ were found.

We study the emergence of color superconductivity in the theory of the strong interaction at supranuclear densities. To this end, we follow the renormalization group (RG) flow of dense strong-interaction matter with two massless quark flavors from the fundamental quark and gluon degrees of freedom at high energies down to the non-perturbative low-energy regime which is found to be governed by the dynamical formation of diquark states. With the strong coupling at the initial RG scale as the only input parameter, we compute the (chirally symmetric) scalar diquark condensate and analyze its scaling behavior over a wide range of the quark chemical potential. Approximations entering our computations are critically assessed. Since our approach naturally allows us to study the scale dependence of couplings, we also monitor the strength of couplings appearing in low-energy models of dense strong-interaction matter. The observed dependence of these couplings on the quark chemical potential may help to amend model studies in the future.
The general quasiparticle propagator in dense quark matter is derived for equal mass quarks. Specialized to an NJL model, this propagator includes one new condensate, $Delta_3$, in addition to the usual CFL condensate, $Delta_1$. The gap equation is solved in two NJL models and the dependence on the quark mass of the condensates and the gap is presented. Analytic approximations for the condensates are obtained and compared to exact numerical solutions. The results are shown to differ from those obtained by neglecting $Delta_3$, especially for smaller values of $Delta_1$. The two different NJL models presented are also shown to give different results when $Delta_3$ is not neglected. The methods used in this paper can be generalized to the physical case where only the strange quark is significantly massive.
In presence of the non-ideal plasma effects, Heavy Quarks (HQs) carry out non linear random walk inside Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) and in the small momentum transfer limit, the evolution of the HQ distribution is dictated by the Non Linear Fokker-Planck Equation (NLFPE). Using the NLFPE, we calculate the transport coefficients (drag and diffusion) of heavy quarks travelling through QGP. We observe substantial modification in the momentum and temperature variation of the transport coefficients; and this will modify the physical picture we are having about the transport of heavy quarks inside QGP, and hence, about the characterisation of the plasma.
The two-flavor color superconductivity is studied over a wide range of baryon density with a single model. We pay a special attention to the spatial-momentum dependence of the gap and to the spatial-structure of Cooper pairs. At extremely high baryon density (O(10^{10} rho_0) with rho_0 being the normal nuclear matter density), our model becomes equivalent to the usual perturbative QCD treatment and the gap is shown to have a sharp peak near the Fermi surface due to the weak-coupling nature of QCD. On the other hand, the gap is a smooth function of the momentum at lower densities (O(10 rho_0)) due to strong color magnetic and electric interactions. To study the structural change of Cooper pairs from high density to lower density, quark correlation in the color superconductor is studied both in the momentum space and in the coordinate space. The size of the Cooper pair is shown to become comparable to the averaged inter-quark distance at low densities. Also, effects of the momentum-dependent running coupling and the antiquark pairing, which are both small at high density, are shown to be non-negligible at low densities. These features are highly contrasted to the standard BCS superconductivity in metals.
The McLerran-Venugopalan (MV) model is a Gaussian effective theory of color charge fluctuations at small-$x$ in the limit of large valence charge density, {it i}.{it e}., a large nucleus made of uncorrelated color charges. In this work, we explore the effects of the first non-trivial (even C-parity) non-Gaussian correction on the color charge density to the MV model (quartic term) in SU(2) and SU(3) color group in the non-perturbative regime. We compare our (numerical) non-perturbative results to (analytical) perturbative ones in the limit of small or large non-Gaussian fluctuations. The couplings in the non-Gaussian action, $barmu$ for the quadratic and $kappa_4$ for the quartic term, need to be renormalized in order to match the two-point function in the Gaussian theory. We investigate three different choices for the renormalization of these couplings: i) $kappa_{4}$ is proportional to a power of $barmu$; ii) $kappa_4$ is kept constant and iii) $barmu$ is kept constant. We find that the first two choices lead to a scenario where the small-$x$ action evolves towards a theory dominated by large non-Gaussian fluctuations, regardless of the system size, while the last one allows for controlling the deviations from the MV model.
