The two-flavor color superconductivity is studied over a wide range of baryon density with a single model. We pay a special attention to the spatial-momentum dependence of the gap and to the spatial-structure of Cooper pairs. At extremely high baryon density (O(10^{10} rho_0) with rho_0 being the normal nuclear matter density), our model becomes equivalent to the usual perturbative QCD treatment and the gap is shown to have a sharp peak near the Fermi surface due to the weak-coupling nature of QCD. On the other hand, the gap is a smooth function of the momentum at lower densities (O(10 rho_0)) due to strong color magnetic and electric interactions. To study the structural change of Cooper pairs from high density to lower density, quark correlation in the color superconductor is studied both in the momentum space and in the coordinate space. The size of the Cooper pair is shown to become comparable to the averaged inter-quark distance at low densities. Also, effects of the momentum-dependent running coupling and the antiquark pairing, which are both small at high density, are shown to be non-negligible at low densities. These features are highly contrasted to the standard BCS superconductivity in metals.

In dense quark matter, the response of the color superconducting gaps to a small variation, $deltamu$, in the chemical potential of the strange quark was studied. The approximation of three massless flavors of quarks and a general ansatz for the color flavor structure of the gap matrix was used. The general pole structure of the quasi-particle propagator in this ansatz is presented. The gap equation was solved using both an NJL interaction model and perturbative single gluon exchange at moderate densities and results are presented for varying values of $deltamu$. Quantitative and qualitative differences in the dependence of the gaps on $deltamu$ were found.
We study the emergence of color superconductivity in the theory of the strong interaction at supranuclear densities. To this end, we follow the renormalization group (RG) flow of dense strong-interaction matter with two massless quark flavors from the fundamental quark and gluon degrees of freedom at high energies down to the non-perturbative low-energy regime which is found to be governed by the dynamical formation of diquark states. With the strong coupling at the initial RG scale as the only input parameter, we compute the (chirally symmetric) scalar diquark condensate and analyze its scaling behavior over a wide range of the quark chemical potential. Approximations entering our computations are critically assessed. Since our approach naturally allows us to study the scale dependence of couplings, we also monitor the strength of couplings appearing in low-energy models of dense strong-interaction matter. The observed dependence of these couplings on the quark chemical potential may help to amend model studies in the future.
We investigate the possible existence of spin polarization and color superconductivity in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with a tensor-type interaction at finite density and temperature. The thermodynamic potential is calculated by the functional integral method. Numerical results indicate that at low temperature and quark chemical potential the chiral condensed phase exists, and at intermediate chemical potential the color superconducting phase appears. In addition, depending on the magnitude of the tensor coupling, at large chemical potential and low temperature, a color superconducting phase and a spin polarized phase may coexist while at intermediate temperatures only the spin polarized phase occurs.
We compute the quark and gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in perturbative QCD. Our calculation is based on an expansion of the differential Higgs boson and Drell-Yan production cross sections about their collinear limit. This method allows us to employ cutting edge techniques for the computation of cross sections to extract the universal building blocks in question. The corresponding perturbative matching kernels for all channels are expressed in terms of simple harmonic polylogarithms up to weight five. As a byproduct, we confirm a previous computation of the soft function for transverse momentum factorization at N$^3$LO. Our results are the last missing ingredient to extend the $q_T$ subtraction methods to N$^3$LO and to obtain resummed $q_T$ spectra at N$^3$LL$^prime$ accuracy both for gluon as well as for quark initiated processes.
We propose a novel strategy for the perturbative resummation of transverse momentum-dependent (TMD) observables, using the $q_T$ spectra of gauge bosons ($gamma^*$, Higgs) in $pp$ collisions in the regime of low (but perturbative) transverse momentum $q_T$ as a specific example. First we introduce a scheme to choose the factorization scale for virtuality in momentum space instead of in impact parameter space, allowing us to avoid integrating over (or cutting off) a Landau pole in the inverse Fourier transform of the latter to the former. The factorization scale for rapidity is still chosen as a function of impact parameter $b$, but in such a way designed to obtain a Gaussian form (in $ln b$) for the exponentiated rapidity evolution kernel, guaranteeing convergence of the $b$ integral. We then apply this scheme to obtain the $q_T$ spectra for Drell-Yan and Higgs production at NNLL accuracy. In addition, using this scheme we are able to obtain a fast semi-analytic formula for the perturbative resummed cross sections in momentum space: analytic in its dependence on all physical variables at each order of logarithmic accuracy, up to a numerical expansion for the pure mathematical Bessel function in the inverse Fourier transform that needs to be performed just once for all observables and kinematics, to any desired accuracy.
