It is demonstrated that in a two-stage scenario with elementary Poissonian emitters of particles (colour strings) arbitrarily distributed in their number and average multiplicities, the forward- backward correlations are completely determined by the final distribution of the forward particles. The observed linear form of the correlations then necessarily requires this distribution to have a negative binomial form. For emitters with a negative binomial distribution of the produced particles distributed so as to give the final distribution also of a negative binomial form, the forward-backward correlations have an essentially non-linear form, which disagrees with the experimental data.

We study multiplicity correlations of hadrons in forward and backward hemispheres in $pp$ inelastic interactions at energies 200GeV $leq sqrt{s} leq$ 13TeV within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. The model correctly describes (i) the almost linear dependence of average multiplicity in one hemisphere on the particle multiplicity in other hemisphere in the center-of-mass frame; (ii) the increase of the slope parameter $b_{corr}$ with rising collision energy; (iii) the quick falloff of the correlation strength with increase of the midrapidity gap; (iv) saturation of the forward-backward correlations at very high multiplicities. Investigation of the sub-processes on partonic level reveals that these features can be attributed to short-range partonic correlations within a single string and superposition of several sub-processes containing different numbers of soft and hard Pomerons with different mean multiplicities. If the number of Pomerons in the event is fixed, no forward-backward correlations are observed. Predictions are made for the top LHC energy $sqrt{s} = 13$TeV.

The forward-backward (FB) charged particle multiplicity correlations between windows separated in rapidity and azimuth are analyzed using a model that treats strings as independent identical emitters. Both the short-range (SR) contribution, originating from the correlation between multiplicities produced from a single source, and the long-range (LR) contribution, originating from the fluctuation in the number of sources, are taken into account. The dependencies of the FB correlation coefficient, $b$, on the windows rapidity and azimuthal acceptance and the gaps between these windows are studied and compared with the preliminary data of ALICE. The analysis of these dependencies effectively separates the contributions of two above mechanisms. It is also demonstrated that traditional definitions of FB correlation coefficient $b$ have a strong nonlinear dependence on the acceptance of windows. Suitable alternative observables for the future FB correlation studies are proposed. The connection between $b$ and the two-particle correlation function, $C_2$, is traced, as well as its connection to the untriggered di-hadron correlation analysis. Using a model independent analysis, it is shown that measurement of the FB multiplicity correlations between two small windows separated in rapidity and azimuth fully determine the two-particle correlation function $C_2$, even if the particle distribution in rapidity is not uniform.

The mechanism of two-stage electron acceleration by backward stimulated Raman scattering (BSRS) and forward stimulated Raman scattering (FSRS) is demonstrated through relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell simulation. The theoretical model is given to judge the condition of two-stage electron acceleration. The electrons trapped by BSRS inducing Langmuir wave (LW) will be trapped and accelerated by FSRS LW directly in the high electron density region. The superthermal electrons with energy larger than the energy at the phase velocity of FSRS LW will be generated by two-stage acceleration. In the condition of Te=2.5keV, only when ne>0.138n_c, can the electrons trapped by BSRS LW be accelerated by the FSRS LW directly. And the optimal parameter region is 0.108nc< ne< 0.128nc in condition of Te=2.5keV to control BSRS and superthermal electrons to a low level.
We calculate the forward backward asymmetry of the top-pair production at TEVATRON up to next to leading order (NLO) in the little Higgs model (LHM). We find that the contribution of $Z_H$ can be large enough to make up the gap between standard model (SM) prediction and data. With the database of $7.65pm0.20pm0.36$ pb, therefore, the parameter space for flavor-changing coupling of $Z_H$ is constrained. Thus this model can result in the required asymmetry while the total cross section of top-pair production remaining consistent with data.
The forward-backward (FB) asymmetry of $b$ quarks in $e^+e^-$ collisions at the Z pole measured at LEP, $A_{FB}^{0,b} = 0.0992pm0.0016$, remains today the electroweak precision observable with the largest disagreement (2.4$sigma$) with respect to the Standard Model prediction, $(A_{FB}^{0,b})_{_{rm th}} = 0.1030 pm 0.0002$. Beyond the dominant statistical uncertainties, QCD effects, such as $b$-quark showering and hadronization, are the leading sources of $A_{FB}^{0,b}$ systematic uncertainty, and have not been revised in the last twenty years. We reassess the QCD uncertainties of the eight original $A_{FB}^{0,b}$ LEP measurements, using modern parton shower PYTHIA-8 and PYTHIA-8 + VINCIA simulations with nine different implementations of soft and collinear radiation as well as of parton fragmentation. Our analysis, combined with NNLO massive $b$-quark corrections independently computed recently, indicates total propagated QCD uncertainties of $sim$0.7% and $sim$0.3% for the lepton-charge and jet-charge analyses, respectively, that are about a factor of two smaller than those of the original LEP results. Accounting for such updated QCD effects leads to a new $A_{FB}^{0,b} = 0.0996pm0.0016$ average, with a data-theory tension slightly reduced from 2.4$sigma$ to 2.1$sigma$. Confirmation or resolution of this long-term discrepancy requires a new high-luminosity $e^+e^-$ collider collecting orders-of-magnitude more data at the Z pole to significantly reduce the $A_{FB}^{0,b}$ statistical uncertainties.
