The theory of elastic light scattering by semiconductor quantum dots is suggested. The semiclassical method, applying retarded potentials to avoid the problem of bounder conditions for electric and magnetic field, is used. The exact results for the Pointing vector on large distances from a quantum dot, formulas of differential cross sections of light scattering for the monochromatic and pulse irradiation are obtained.

Elastic light scattering by low-dimensional semiconductor objects is investigated theoretically. The differential cross section of resonant light scattering on excitons in quantum dots is calculated. The polarization and angular distribution of scattered light do not depend on the quantum-dot form, sizes and potential configuration if light wave lengths exceed considerably the quantum-dot size. In this case the magnitude of the total light scattering cross section does not depend on quantum-dot sizes. The resonant total light scattering cross section is about a square of light wave length if the exciton radiative broadening exceeds the nonradiative broadening. Radiative broadenings are calculated.
The cross section of light absorption by semiconductor quantum dots in the case of the resonance with excitons $Gamma_6 times Gamma_7$ in cubical crystals $T_d$ is calculated. It is shown that an interference of stimulating and induced electric and magnetic fields must be taken into account. The absorption section is proportional to the exciton nonradiative damping $gamma$.
In this work we theoretically study properties of electric current driven by a temperature gradient through a quantum dot/molecule coupled to the source and drain charge reservoirs. We analyze the effect of Coulomb interactions between electrons on the dot/molecule and of thermal environment on the thermocurrent. The environment is simulated by two thermal baths associated with the reservoirs and kept at different temperatures. The scattering matrix formalism is employed to compute electron transmission through the system. This approach is further developed and combined with nonequilibrium Greens functions formalism, so that scattering probabilities are expressed in terms of relevant energies including the thermal energy, strengths of coupling between the dot/molecule and charge reservoirs and characteristic energies of electron-phonon interactions. It is shown that one may bring the considered system into regime favorable for heat-to-electric energy conversion by varying the applied bias and gate voltages.
Sources of non-classical light are of paramount importance for future applications in quantum science and technology such as quantum communication, quantum computation and simulation, quantum sensing and quantum metrology. In this review we discuss the fundamentals and recent progress in the generation of single photons, entangled photon pairs and photonic cluster states using semiconductor quantum dots. Specific fundamentals which are discussed are a detailed quantum description of light, properties of semiconductor quantum dots and light-matter interactions. This includes a framework for the dynamic modelling of non-classical light generation and two-photon interference. Recent progress will be discussed in the generation of non-classical light for off-chip applications as well as implementations for scalable on-chip integration.

We present a comprehensive theoretical description of quantum well exciton-polaritons imbedded in a planar semiconductor microcavity. The exact non-local dielectric response of the quantum well exciton is treated in detail. The 4-spinor structure of the hole subband in the quantum well is considered, including the pronounced band mixing effect. The scheme is self-contained and can be used to treat different semiclassical aspects of the microcavity properties. As an example, we analyze the selection rules for the exciton-cavity mode coupling for different excitons.
