Bulk matter produced in heavy ion collisions has multiple conserved quantum numbers like baryon number, strangeness and electric charge. The diffusion process of these charges can be described by a diffusion matrix describing the interdependence of diffusion of different charges. The diffusion coefficient matrix is estimated here from the Boltzmann kinetic theory for the hadronic phase within relaxation time approximation. In the derivation for the same, we impose the Landau-Lifshitz conditions of fit. This leads to e.g. the diagonal diffusion coefficients to be manifestly positive definite. The explicit calculations are performed within the ambit of hadron resonance gas model with and without excluded volume corrections. It is seen that the off-diagonal components can be significant to affect the charge diffusion in a fluid with multiple conserved charges. The excluded volume correction effects is seen to be not significant in the estimation of the elements of the diffusion matrix.

We simultaneously incorporate two common extensions of the hadron resonance gas model, namely the addition of extra, unconfirmed resonances to the particle list and the excluded volume repulsive interactions. We emphasize the complementary nature of these two extensions and identify combinations of conserved charge susceptibilities that allow to constrain them separately. In particular, ratios of second-order susceptibilities like $chi_{11}^{BQ}/chi_2^B$ and $chi_{11}^{BS}/chi_2^B$ are sensitive only to the baryon spectrum, while fourth-to-second order ratios like $chi_4^B/chi_2^B$, $chi_{31}^{BS}/chi_{11}^{BS}$, or $chi_{31}^{BQ}/chi_{11}^{BQ}$ are mainly determined by repulsive interactions. Analysis of the available lattice results suggests the presence of both the extra states in the baryon-strangeness sector and the repulsive baryonic interaction, with indications that hyperons have a smaller repulsive core than non-strange baryons. The modified hadron resonance gas model presented here significantly improves the description of lattice QCD susceptibilities at chemical freeze-out and can be used for the analysis of event-by-event fluctuations in heavy-ion collisions.
The relativistic kinetic theory approach has been employed to study four well-known transport coefficients that characterize heat flow and diffusion for the case of a hot mixture constituting of nucleons and pions. Medium effects on the cross-section for binary collisions ($Npi$,$pipi$) have been taken into consideration by incorporating self-energy corrections to modify the propagator of the exchanged $Delta$ baryon in $Npi$ interaction and the $rho$ and $sigma$ meson propagators for the case of $pipi$ interaction. The temperature dependence of the four coefficients have been investigated for several values of the baryon chemical potential.
An extended chiral SU(3) model is applied to the description of dense, hot and strange hadronic matter. The degrees of freedom are the baryon octet and decuplet and the spin-0 and spin-1 meson multiplets. The parameters of the model are fitted to the hadron masses in vacumm, infinite nuclear matter properties and soft pion theorems. At high densities the appearance of density isomers cannot be ruled out and extrapolation to finite temperature exhibits a first order phase transition at $T approx 150 MeV$. The predicted dropping baryon masses lead to drastically changed particle ratios compared to ideal gas calculations.

We present calculations for the shear viscosity of the hot and dense quark-gluon plasma (QGP) using the partonic scattering cross sections as a function of temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $mu_B$ from the dynamical quasiparticle model (DQPM) that is matched to reproduce the equation of state of the partonic system above the deconfinement temperature $T_c$ from lattice QCD. To this aim we calculate the collisional widths for the partonic degrees of freedom at finite $T$ and $mu_B$ in the time-like sector and conclude that the quasiparticle limit holds sufficiently well. Furthermore, the ratio of shear viscosity $eta$ over entropy density $s$, i.e. $eta/s$, is evaluated using these collisional widths and are compared to lQCD calculations for $mu_B$ = 0 as well. We find that the ratio $eta/s$ is in agreement with the results of calculations within the original DQPM on the basis of the Kubo formalism. Furthermore, there is only a very modest change of $eta/s$ with the baryon chemical $mu_B$ as a function of the scaled temperature $T/T_c(mu_B)$.
We calculate the mean free path in a hot and dense nuclear environment for a fermionic dark matter particle candidate in the $sim$GeV mass range interacting with nucleons via scalar and vector effective couplings. We focus on the effects of density and temperature in the nuclear medium in order to evaluate the importance of the final state blocking in the scattering process. We discuss qualitatively possible implications for opacities in stellar nuclear scenarios, where dark matter may be gravitationally accreted.
