Path tracking system plays a key technology in autonomous driving. The system should be driven accurately along the lane and be careful not to cause any inconvenience to passengers. To address such tasks, this paper proposes hybrid tracker based optimal path tracking system. By applying a deep learning based lane detection algorithm and a designated fast lane fitting algorithm, this paper developed a lane processing algorithm that shows a match rate with actual lanes with minimal computational cost. In addition, three modified path tracking algorithms were designed using the GPS based path or the vision based path. In the driving system, a match rate for the correct ideal path does not necessarily represent driving stability. This paper proposes hybrid tracker based optimal path tracking system by applying the concept of an observer that selects the optimal tracker appropriately in complex road environments. The driving stability has been studied in complex road environments such as straight road with multiple 3-way junctions, roundabouts, intersections, and tunnels. Consequently, the proposed system experimentally showed the high performance with consistent driving comfort by maintaining the vehicle within the lanes accurately even in the presence of high complexity of road conditions. We develop optimal control strategies for Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) that are required to meet complex specifications imposed by traffic laws and cultural expectations of reasonable driving behavior. We formulate these specifications as rules, and specify their priorities by constructing a priority structure. We propose a recursive framework, in which the satisfaction of the rules in the priority structure are iteratively relaxed based on their priorities. Central to this framework is an optimal control problem, where convergence to desired states is achieved using Control Lyapunov Functions (CLFs), and safety is enforced through Control Barrier Functions (CBFs). We also show how the proposed framework can be used for after-the-fact, pass / fail evaluation of trajectories - a given trajectory is rejected if we can find a controller producing a trajectory that leads to less violation of the rule priority structure. We present case studies with multiple driving scenarios to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

This paper proposes a systematic solution that uses an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to aggressively and safely track an agile target. The solution properly handles the challenging situations where the intent of the target and the dense environments are unknown to the UAV. Our work is divided into two parts: target motion prediction and tracking trajectory planning. The target motion prediction method utilizes target observations to reliably predict the future motion of the target considering dynamic constraints. The tracking trajectory planner follows the traditional hierarchical workflow.A target informed kinodynamic searching method is adopted as the front-end, which heuristically searches for a safe tracking trajectory. The back-end optimizer then refines it into a spatial-temporal optimal and collision-free trajectory. The proposed solution is integrated into an onboard quadrotor system. We fully test the system in challenging real-world tracking missions.Moreover, benchmark comparisons validate that the proposed method surpasses the cutting-edge methods on time efficiency and tracking effectiveness.
Model predictive control (MPC) is widely used for path tracking of autonomous vehicles due to its ability to handle various types of constraints. However, a considerable predictive error exists because of the error of mathematics model or the model linearization. In this paper, we propose a framework combining the MPC with a learning-based error estimator and a feedforward compensator to improve the path tracking accuracy. An extreme learning machine is implemented to estimate the model based predictive error from vehicle state feedback information. Offline training data is collected from a vehicle controlled by a model-defective regular MPC for path tracking in several working conditions, respectively. The data include vehicle state and the spatial error between the current actual position and the corresponding predictive position. According to the estimated predictive error, we then design a PID-based feedforward compensator. Simulation results via Carsim show the estimation accuracy of the predictive error and the effectiveness of the proposed framework for path tracking of an autonomous vehicle.

To improve the security and robustness of autonomous driving models, this paper presents SMET, a scenariobased metamorphic testing tool for autonomous driving models. The metamorphic relationship is divided into three dimensions (time, space, and event) and demonstrates its effectiveness through case studies in two types of autonomous driving models with different outputs.Experimental results show that this tool can well detect potential defects of the autonomous driving model, and complex scenes are more effective than simple scenes.
