We study the connection between probability distributions satisfying certain conditional independence (CI) constraints, and point and line arrangements in incidence geometry. To a family of CI statements, we associate a polynomial ideal whose algebraic invariants are encoded in a hypergraph. The primary decompositions of these ideals give a characterisation of the distributions satisfying the original CI statements. Classically, these ideals are generated by 2-minors of a matrix of variables, however, in the presence of hidden variables, they contain higher degree minors. This leads to the study of the structure of determinantal hypergraph ideals whose decompositions can be understood in terms of point and line configurations in the projective space.

Given a homogeneous ideal $I subseteq k[x_0,dots,x_n]$, the Containment problem studies the relation between symbolic and regular powers of $I$, that is, it asks for which pair $m, r in mathbb{N}$, $I^{(m)} subseteq I^r$ holds. In the last years, several conjectures have been posed on this problem, creating an active area of current interests and ongoing investigations. In this paper, we investigated the Stable Harbourne Conjecture and the Stable Harbourne -- Huneke Conjecture and we show that they hold for the defining ideal of a Complement of a Steiner configuration of points in $mathbb{P}^{n}_{k}$. We can also show that the ideal of a Complement of a Steiner Configuration of points has expected resurgence, that is, its resurgence is strictly less than its big height, and it also satisfies Chudnovsky and Demaillys Conjectures. Moreover, given a hypergraph $H$, we also study the relation between its colourability and the failure of the containment problem for the cover ideal associated to $H$. We apply these results in the case that $H$ is a Steiner System.

We introduce a new class of arrangements of hyperplanes, called (strictly) plus-one generated arrangements, from algebraic point of view. Plus-one generatedness is close to freeness, i.e., plus-one generated arrangements have their logarithmic derivation modules generated by dimension plus one elements, with relations containing one linear form coefficient. We show that strictly plus-one generated arrangements can be obtained if we delete a hyperplane from free arrangements. We show a relative freeness criterion in terms of plus-one generatedness. In particular, for plane arrangements, we show that a free arrangement is in fact surrounded by free or strictly plus-one generated arrangements. We also give several applications.
The stratum $mathcal{H}(a,-b_{1},dots,-b_{p})$ of meromorphic $1$-forms with a zero of order $a$ and poles of orders $b_{1},dots,b_{p}$ on the Riemann sphere has a map, the isoresidual fibration, defined by assigning to any differential its residues at the poles. We show that above the complement of a hyperplane arrangement, the resonance arrangement, the isoresidual fibration is an unramified cover of degree $frac{a!}{(a+2-p)!}$. Moreover, the monodromy of the fibration is computed for strata with at most three poles and a system of generators and relations is given for all strata. These results are obtained by associating to special differentials of the strata a tree, and by studying the relationship between the geometric properties of the differentials and the combinatorial properties of these trees.
We introduce a new algebra associated with a hyperplane arrangement $mathcal{A}$, called the Solomon-Terao algebra $mbox{ST}(mathcal{A},eta)$, where $eta$ is a homogeneous polynomial. It is shown by Solomon and Terao that $mbox{ST}(mathcal{A},eta)$ is Artinian when $eta$ is generic. This algebra can be considered as a generalization of coinvariant algebras in the setting of hyperplane arrangements. The class of Solomon-Terao algebras contains cohomology rings of regular nilpotent Hessenberg varieties. We show that $mbox{ST}(mathcal{A},eta)$ is a complete intersection if and only if $mathcal{A}$ is free. We also give a factorization formula of the Hilbert polynomials when $mathcal{A}$ is free, and pose several related questions, problems and conjectures.

We prove Anzis and Tohaneanu conjecture, that is the Dirac-Motzkin conjecture for supersolvable line arrangements in the projective plane over an arbitrary field of characteristic zero. Moreover, we show that a divisionally free arrangements of lines contain at least one double point, that can be regarded as the Sylvester-Gallai theorem for some free arrangements. This is a corollary of a general result that if you add a line to a free projective line arrangement, then that line has to contain at least one double point. Also we prove some conjectures and one open problems related to supersolvable line arrangements and the number of double points.
