We propose to create a secondary beam of neutral kaons in Hall D at Jefferson Lab to be used with the GlueX experimental setup for strange hadron spectroscopy. The superior CEBAF electron beam will enable a flux on the order of $1times 10^4~K_L/sec$, which exceeds the flux of that previously attained at SLAC by three orders of magnitude. The use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements ever with neutral kaons on neutrons. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced $Lambda$, $Sigma$, $Xi$, and $Omega$ hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span CM $costheta$ from $-0.95$ to 0.95 in the range W = 1490 MeV to 2500 MeV. The new data will significantly constrain the partial wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of the properties and pole positions of the strange hyperon resonances, and establish the orbitally excited multiplets in the spectra of the $Xi$ and $Omega$ hyperons. Comparison with the corresponding multiplets in the spectra of the charm and bottom hyperons will provide insight into he accuracy of QCD-based calculations over a large range of masses. The proposed facility will have a defining impact in the strange meson sector through measurements of the final state $Kpi$ system up to 2 GeV invariant mass. This will allow the determination of pole positions and widths of all relevant $K^ast(Kpi)$ $S$-,$P$-,$D$-,$F$-, and $G$-wave resonances, settle the question of the existence or nonexistence of scalar meson $kappa/K_0^ast(700)$ and improve the constrains on their pole parameters. Subsequently improving our knowledge of the low-lying scalar nonet in general.

We propose to create a secondary beam of neutral kaons in Hall D at Jefferson Lab to be used with the GlueX experimental setup for strange hadron spectroscopy. A flux on the order of 3 x 10^4 KL/s will allow a broad range of measurements to be made by improving the statistics of previous data obtained on hydrogen targets by three orders of magnitude. Use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements on the neutron which is {it terra incognita}. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced {Lambda}, {Sigma}, {Xi}, and {Omega} hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span c.m. cos{theta} from -0.95 to 0.95 in the c.m. range above W = 1490 MeV and up to 3500 MeV. These new GlueX data will greatly constrain partial-wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of strange resonance properties (including pole positions), and provide a new benchmark for comparisons with QCD-inspired models and lattice QCD calculations. The proposed facility will also have an impact in the strange meson sector by providing measurements of the final-state K{pi} system from threshold up to 2 GeV invariant mass to establish and improve on the pole positions and widths of all K*(K{pi}) P-wave states as well as for the S-wave scalar meson {kappa}(800).

We present STAR measurements of K^{0}_{S}, phi, Lambda, Xi, and Omega at mid-rapidity from Au+Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, and 39 GeV from the Beam Energy Scan (BES) program at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). Nuclear modification factors and baryon-to-meson ratios are measured to understand recombination and parton energy loss mechanisms. Implications on partonic versus hadronic dynamics at low beam energies are discussed.
Coherent double neutral-pion photoproduction on the deuteron, $gamma{d}${$to$}$pi^0pi^0{d}$, has been experimentally studied at incident photon energies ranging from 0.75 to 1.15 GeV. The total cross section as a function of the $gamma{d}$ center-of-mass energy shows resonance-like behavior, which peaks at approximately 2.47 and 2.63 GeV. The measured angular distribution of deuteron emission is rather flat, which cannot be reproduced by the kinematics of quasi-free $pi^0pi^0$ production with deuteron coalescence. In $pi^0d $ invariant-mass distributions, a clear peak is observed at $2.14{pm}0.01$ GeV$/c^2$ with a width of $0.09{pm}0.01$ GeV$/c^2$. The spin-parity of this state is restricted to $1^+$, $2^+$ or $3^-$ from the angular distributions of the two $pi^0$s. The present work shows strong evidence for the existence of an isovector dibaryon resonance with a mass of 2.14 GeV$/c^2$. The $2^+$ assignment is consistent with the theoretically predicted ${cal{D}}_{12}$ state, and also with the energy dependence of the $pi{d}$ partial-wave amplitude $^3!P_2$ for the $pi^{pm}d${$to$}$pi^{pm}d$ and $pi^+d${$to$}${pp}$ reactions.

Beauty quarks are considered as one of the best probes of the strongly interacting medium created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions because they are predominantly produced via initial hard scatterings. Our measurements of B mesons productions provide information on the diffusion of beauty quarks and the flavor dependence of in-medium energy loss. In these studies, clarifying the hadronization mechanism is crucial for understanding the transport properties of beauty quarks. We propose to show our experimental results on three sets of particles: nonprompt $J/psi$ and $D^0$, $B^0_s$ and $B^+$, and prompt $D^+_s$ and $D^0$. Our measurements of $B^0_s$ production can shed light on the mechanisms of beauty recombination in the medium. In addition, the measurements of mesons productions containing both strange and beauty quarks can provide more information about strangeness enhancement in the quark-gluon plasma. The ratio of $B^0_s$ over $B^+$ nuclear modification factors at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV, using fully reconstructed B mesons with the CMS detector, are presented. We will also show the nonprompt $J/psi$ and $D^0$ from the partial B mesons decay chains as well as our precise measurement the prompt $D^+_s$ to $D^0$ ratio in pp and PbPb collisions.

Strange quark and particle production is studied at the LHC with unprecedented high beam energies in both heavy-ion and proton-proton collisions: on the one hand, strangeness is used for investigating chemical equilibration and bulk properties; on the other hand, strange particles contribute to probe different kinematical domains, from the one where collective phenomena are at play up to the region dominated by pQCD-calculable processes. We highlight the suitability of the ALICE experiment for this topic, presenting our latest measurements and comparing them to models.
