We make use of a simple scalar diquark model to study the potential transverse momentum and potential angular momentum, defined as the difference between the Jaffe-Manohar and Ji notions of transverse momentum and orbital angular momentum, respectively. A non-vanishing potential angular momentum has been previously found in lattice calculations and is believed to appear due to the effects of initial/final state interactions between the spectator system and the struck quark in high energy scattering processes. Such re-scattering phenomena are similar in nature to those who are responsible for generating the Sivers shift. This motivates us to search for an estimate of the potential angular momentum in terms of the expectation value of the transverse momentum of the struck quark.
We present an analytic two-loop calculation within the scalar diquark model of the potential linear and angular momenta, defined as the difference between the Jaffe-Manohar and Ji notions of linear and angular momenta. As expected by parity and time-reversal symmetries, a direct calculation confirms that the potential transverse momentum coincides with the Jaffe-Manohar (or canonical) definition of average quark transverse momentum, also known as the quark Sivers shift. We examine whether initial/final-state interactions at the origin of the Sivers asymmetry can also generate a potential angular momentum in the scalar diquark model.
We compute the contribution of twist-2 and twist-3 parton distribution functions to the small-$b$ expansion for transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distributions at all powers of $b$. The computation is done by the twist-decomposition method based on the spinor formalism for all eight quark TMD distributions. The newly computed terms are accompanied by the prefactor $(M^2b^2)^n$ and represent the target-mass corrections to the resummed cross-section. For the first time, a non-trivial expression for the pretzelosity distribution is derived.
The transverse momentum distributions of various hadrons produced in most central Pb+Pb collisions at LHC energy Root(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV have been studied using our earlier proposed unified statistical thermal freeze-out model. The calculated results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data measured by the ALICE experiment. The model calculation fits provide the thermal freeze-out conditions in terms of the temperature and collective flow effect parameters for different particle species. Interestingly the model parameter fits reveal a strong collective flow in the system which appears to be a consequence of the increasing particle density at LHC. The model used incorporates a longitudinal as well as transverse hydrodynamic flow. The chemical potential has been assumed to be nearly equal to zero for the bulk of the matter owing to a high degree of nuclear transparency effect at such energies. The contributions from heavier decay resonances are also taken into account in our calculations.
In this letter, we present the NNLL-NNLO transverse momentum Higgs distribution arising from gluon fusion. In the regime $p_perpll m_H$ we include the resummation of the large logs at next to next-to leading order and then match on to the $alpha_s^2$ fixed order result near $p_perp sim m_h$. By utilizing the rapidity renormalization group (RRG) we are able to smoothly match between the resummed, small $p_perp$ regime and the fixed order regime. We give a detailed discussion of the scale dependence of the result including an analysis of the rapidity scale dependence. Our central value differs from previous results, in the transition region as well as the tail, by an amount which is outside the error band. This difference is due to the fact that the RRG profile allows us to smoothly turn off the resummation.
We obtain the centre-of-mass frame effective potential from the zero-momentum potential in Ruijsenaars-Schneider type 1-dimensional relativistic mechanics using classical inverse scattering methods.
