In quantum field theory, the phase space integration is an essential part in all theoretical calculations of cross sections and decay widths. It is also needed for computing the imaginary part of a physical amplitude. A key problem is to get the phase space formula expressed in terms of any chosen invariant masses in an $n$-body system. We propose a graphic method to quickly get the phase space formula of any given invariant masses intuitively for an arbitrary $n$-body system in general $D$-dimensional spacetime, with the involved momenta in any reference frame. The method also greatly simplifies the phase space calculation just as what Feynman diagrams do in calculating scattering amplitudes.

We discuss the existence of a conformal phase in SU(N) gauge theories in four dimensions. In this lattice study we explore the model in the bare parameter space, varying the lattice coupling and bare mass. Simulations are carried out with three colors and twelve flavors of dynamical staggered fermions in the fundamental representation. The analysis of the chiral order parameter and the mass spectrum of the theory indicates the restoration of chiral symmetry at zero temperature and the presence of a Coulomb-like phase, depicting a scenario compatible with the existence of an infrared stable fixed point at nonzero coupling. Our analysis supports the conclusion that the onset of the conformal window for QCD-like theories is smaller than Nf=12, before the loss of asymptotic freedom at sixteen and a half flavors. We discuss open questions and future directions.
Neutron-antineutron oscillations are considered in the light of recently proposed particle models, which claim to resolve the neutron lifetime anomaly, indicating the existence of baryon violating $Delta B=1$ interactions. Possible constraints are derived coming from the non-observation of neutron-antineutron oscillations, which can take place if the dark matter particle produced in neutron decay happens to be a Majorana fermion. It is shown that this can be realised in a simple MSSM extention where only the baryon number violating term $u^cd^cd^c$ is included whilst all other R-parity violating terms are prevented to avoid rapid proton decay. It is demostrated how this scenario can be implemented in a string motivated GUT broken to MSSM by fluxes.
Determining the masses of new physics particles appearing in decay chains is an important and longstanding problem in high energy phenomenology. Recently it has been shown that these mass measurements can be improved by utilizing the boundary of the allowed region in the fully differentiable phase space in its full dimensionality. Here we show that the practical challenge of identifying this boundary can be solved using techniques based on the geometric properties of the cells resulting from Voronoi tessellations of the relevant data. The robust detection of such phase space boundaries in the data could also be used to corroborate a new physics discovery based on a cut-and-count analysis.
Simplified Models are a useful way to characterize new physics scenarios for the LHC. Particle decays are often represented using non-renormalizable operators that involve the minimal number of fields required by symmetries. Generalizing to a wider class of decay operators allows one to model a variety of final states. This approach, which we dub the $n$-body extension of Simplified Models, provides a unifying treatment of the signal phase space resulting from a variety of signals. In this paper, we present the first application of this framework in the context of multijet plus missing energy searches. The main result of this work is a global performance study with the goal of identifying which set of observables yields the best discriminating power against the largest Standard Model backgrounds for a wide range of signal jet multiplicities. Our analysis compares combinations of one, two and three variables, placing emphasis on the enhanced sensitivity gain resulting from non-trivial correlations. Utilizing boosted decision trees, we compare and classify the performance of missing energy, energy scale and energy structure observables. We demonstrate that including an observable from each of these three classes is required to achieve optimal performance. This work additionally serves to establish the utility of $n$-body extended Simplified Models as a diagnostic for unpacking the relative merits of different search strategies, thereby motivating their application to new physics signatures beyond jets and missing energy.
Recently, we proposed a new method to calculate meson propagators in the large $N$ limit from twisted space-time reduced model. In this note, we give simulation details for obtaining meson spectra and discuss the smearing technique which should improve the signal of meson propagators in future works.
