A universal relation between the leading correction to the entropy and extremality was gotten in the work of Goon and Penco. In this paper, we extend this work to the massive gravity and investigate thermodynamic extremality relations in a topologically higher-dimensional black hole. A rescaled cosmological constant is added to the action of the massive gravity as a perturbative correction. This correction modifies the extremality bound of the black hole and leads to the shifts of the mass, entropy, etc. The Goon-Penco relation is gotten. Regarding the cosmological constant as a variable related to pressure, we get the thermodynamic extremality relations between the mass and pressure, charge, parameters $c_i$ by accurate calculations, respectively. Finally, these relations are verified by a triple product identity, which shows that the universal relation exists in black holes.

The role of Lorentz symmetry in ghost-free massive gravity is studied, emphasizing features emerging in approximately Minkowski spacetime. The static extrema and saddle points of the potential are determined and their Lorentz properties identified. Solutions preserving Lorentz invariance and ones breaking four of the six Lorentz generators are constructed. Locally, globally, and absolutely stable Lorentz-invariant extrema are found to exist for certain parameter ranges of the potential. Gravitational waves in the linearized theory are investigated. Deviations of the fiducial metric from the Minkowski metric are shown to lead to pentarefringence of the five wave polarizations, which can include superluminal modes and subluminal modes with negative energies in certain observer frames. The Newton limit of ghost-free massive gravity is explored. The propagator is constructed and used to obtain the gravitational potential energy between two point masses. The result extends the Fierz-Pauli limit to include corrections generically breaking both rotation and boost invariance.
False vacuum decay in field theory may be formulated as a boundary value problem in Euclidean space. In a previous work, we studied its solution in single scalar field theories with quadratic gravity and used it to find obstructions to vacuum decay. For simplicity, we focused on massless scalar fields and false vacua with a flat geometry. In this paper, we generalize those findings to massive scalar fields with the same gravitational interactions, namely an Einstein-Hilbert term, a quadratic Ricci scalar, and a non-minimal coupling. We find that the scalar field reaches its asymptotic value faster than in the massless case, in principle allowing for a wider range of theories that may accommodate vacuum decay. Nonetheless, this hardly affects the viability of the bounce in the scenarios here considered. We also briefly consider other physically interesting theories by including higher-order kinetic terms and changing the number of spacetime dimensions.
We study the polarizations of gravitational waves (GWs) in two classes of extended gravity theories. First, we formulate the polarizations in linear massive gravity (MG) with generic mass terms of non-Fierz-Pauli type by identifying all the independent variables that obey Klein-Gordon-type equations. The dynamical degrees of freedom (dofs) in the generic MG consist of spin-2 and spin-0 modes, the former breaking down into two tensor (helicity-2), two vector (helicity-1) and one scalar (helicity-0) components, while the latter just corresponding to a scalar. We find convenient ways of decomposing the two scalar modes of each spin into distinct linear combinations of the transverse and longitudinal polarizations with coefficients directly expressed by the mass parameters, thereby serving as a useful tool in measuring the masses of GWs. Then we analyze the linear perturbations of generic higher-curvature gravity (HCG) whose Lagrangian is an arbitrary polynomial of the Riemann tensor. On a flat background, the linear dynamical dofs in this theory are identified as massless spin-2, massive spin-2, and massive spin-0 modes. As its massive part encompasses the identical structure to the generic MG, GWs in the generic HCG provide six massive polarizations on top of the ordinary two massless modes. In parallel to MG, we find convenient representations for the scalar-polarization modes directly connected to the parameters of HCG. In this analysis, we employ two distinct methods; One takes full advantage of the partial equivalence between the generic HCG and MG at the linear level, whereas the other relies upon a gauge-invariant formalism. We confirm that the two results agree. We also discuss methods to determine the theory parameters by GW-polarization measurements. Our method does not require measuring the propagation speeds or the details of the waveforms of the GWs. [Abridged]
According to more recent AdS/CFT interpretation cite{Karch:2015rpa}, in which varying cosmological constant $Lambda$ in the bulk corresponds to varying the curvature radius governing the space on which the field theory resides, we study the criticality of thermodynamic curvatures for thermal boundary conformal field theories (CFT) that are dual to $d$-dimensional charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes, embedded in $D$-dimensional M-theory/superstring inspired models having $AdS_{d}times mathbb{S}^{d+k}$ spacetime with $D=2d+k$. Analogous with criticality features acquired for charged AdS black holes in the bulk cite{HosseiniMansoori:2020jrx}, the normalized intrinsic curvature $R_N$ and extrinsic curvature $K_N$ of the boundary CFT has critical exponents 2 and 1, respectively. In this respect, the universal amplitude of $R_Nt^2$ is $frac{1}{2}$ and $K_Nt$ is $-frac{1}{2}$ when $trightarrow0^-$, whereas $R_Nt^2approx frac{1}{8}$ and $K_Ntapproxfrac{1}{4}$ in the limit $trightarrow0^+$ in which $t=T/T_c-1$ is the temperature parameter with the critical temperature, $T_{c}$. Interestingly, these critical amplitudes are independent of the number of thermal CFT dimensions and are remarkably similar to one given for higher dimensional charged AdS black holes in the bulk.
Cubic Galileon massive gravity is a development of de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolly (dRGT) massive gravity theory is which the space of the Stueckelberg field is broken. We consider the cubic Galileon term as a scalar field coupled to the graviton filed. We present a detailed study of the cosmological aspects of this theory of gravity. We analyze self-accelerating solutions of the background equations of motion to explain the accelerated expansion of the Universe. Exploiting the latest Union2 Type Ia Supernovea (SNIa) dataset, which consists of 557 SNIa, we show that cubic Galileon massive gravity theory is consistent with the observations. We also examine the tensor perturbations within the framework of this model and find an expression for the dispersion relation of gravitational waves, and show that it is consistent with the observational results.
