The emerging quantum technological applications call for fast and accurate initialization of the corresponding devices to low-entropy quantum states. To this end, we theoretically study a recently demonstrated quantum-circuit refrigerator in the case of non-linear quantum electric circuits such as superconducting qubits. The maximum refrigeration rate of transmon and flux qubits is observed to be roughly an order of magnitude higher than that of usual linear resonators, increasing flexibility in the design. We find that for typical experimental parameters, the refrigerator is suitable for resetting different qubit types to fidelities above 99.99% in a few or a few tens of nanoseconds depending on the scenario. Thus the refrigerator appears to be a promising tool for quantum technology and for detailed studies of open quantum systems.

Superconducting microwave circuits show great potential for practical quantum technological applications such as quantum information processing. However, fast and on-demand initialization of the quantum degrees of freedom in these devices remains a challenge. Here, we experimentally implement a tunable heat sink that is potentially suitable for the initialization of superconducting qubits. Our device consists of two coupled resonators. The first resonator has a high quality factor and a fixed frequency whereas the second resonator is designed to have a low quality factor and a tunable resonance frequency. We engineer the low quality factor using an on-chip resistor and the frequency tunability using a superconducting quantum interference device. When the two resonators are in resonance, the photons in the high-quality resonator can be efficiently dissipated. We show that the corresponding loaded quality factor can be tuned from above $10^5$ down to a few thousand at 10 GHz in good quantitative agreement with our theoretical model.

I derived Bethe Ansatz equations for two model Periodic Quantum Circuits: 1) XXZ model; 2) Chiral Hubbard Model. I obtained explicit expressions for the spectra of the strings of any length. These analytic results may be useful for calibration and error mitigations in modern engineered quantum platforms.
Alternating current RLC electric circuits form an accessible and highly tunable platform simulating Hermitian as well as non-Hermitian (nH) quantum systems. We propose here a circuit realization of nH Dirac and Weyl Hamiltonians subject to time-reversal invariant pseudo-magnetic field, enabling the exploration of novel nH physics. We identify the low-energy physics with a generic real energy spectrum from the nH Landau quantization of exceptional points and rings, which can avoid the nH skin effect and provides a physical example of a quasiparticle moving in the complex plane. Realistic detection schemes are designed to probe the flat energy bands, sublattice polarization, edge states protected by a nH energy-reflection symmetry, and a characteristic nodeless probability distribution.
The neutral biexciton cascade of single quantum dots is a promising source of entangled photon pairs. The character of the entangled state is determined by the energy difference between the excitonic eigenstates known as fine-structure splitting (FSS). Here we reduce the magnitude of the FSS by simultaneously using two independent tuning mechanisms: in-plane magnetic field and vertical electric field. We observe that there exists a minimum possible FSS in each quantum dot which is independent of these tuning mechanisms. However, with simultaneous application of electric and magnetic fields, we show the FSS can be reduced to its minimum value as the energy of emission is tuned over several meV with a 5-T magnet.
We demonstrate that the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian approach can be used as a universal tool to design and describe a performance of single photon quantum electrodynamical circuits(cQED). As an example of the validity of this method, we calculate a novel six port quantum router, constructed from 4 qubits and 3 open waveguides. We have got analytical expressions, which describe the transmission and reflection coefficients of a single photon in general form taking into account the non-uniform qubits parameters. We show that, due to naturally derived interferences, it is possible to tune the probability of photon detection in different ports in-situ.
