Our understanding of the dynamics and the phase structure of dense strong-interaction matter is to a large extent still built on the analysis of low-energy models, such as those of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio-type. In this work, we analyze the emergence of the latter class of models at intermediate and low energy scales from fundamental quark-gluon interactions. To this end, we study the renormalization group flow of a Fierz-complete set of four-quark interactions and monitor their strength at finite temperature and quark chemical potential. At small quark chemical potential, we find that the scalar-pseudoscalar interaction channel is dynamically rendered most dominant by the gauge degrees of freedom, indicating the formation of a chiral condensate. Moreover, the inclusion of quark-gluon interactions leaves a significant imprint on the dynamics as measured by the curvature of the finite-temperature phase boundary which we find to be in accordance with lattice QCD results. At large quark chemical potential, we then observe that the dominance pattern of the four-quark couplings is changed by the underlying quark-gluon dynamics, without any fine-tuning of the four-quark couplings. In this regime, the scalar-pseudoscalar interaction channel becomes subleading and the dominance pattern suggests the formation of a chirally symmetric diquark condensate. In particular, our study confirms the importance of explicit $U_{mathrm{A}}(1)$ breaking for the formation of this type of condensate at high densities.

We present a calculation of the heavy quark transport coefficients in a quark-gluon plasma under the presence of a strong external magnetic field, within the Lowest Landau Level (LLL) approximation. In particular, we apply the Hard Thermal Loop (HTL) technique for the resummed effective gluon propagator, generalized for a hot and magnetized medium. Using the derived effective HTL gluon propagator and the LLL quark propagator we analytically derive the full results for the longitudinal and transverse momentum diffusion coefficients as well as the energy losses for charm and bottom quarks beyond the static limit. We also show numerical results for these coefficients in two special cases where the heavy quark is moving either parallel or perpendicular to the external magnetic field.

We present a path-integral hadronization for doubly heavy baryons. The two heavy quarks in the baryon are approximated as a scalar or axial-vector diquark described by a heavy diquark effective theory. The gluon dynamics are represented by a NJL-Model interaction for the heavy diquarks and light quarks, which leads to an effective action of the baryon fields after the quark and diquark fields are integrated out. This effective action for doubly heavy baryon includes the electromagnetic and electroweak interactions, as well as the interaction with light mesons. We also verify the Ward-Takahashi identity at the baryon level, obtain the Isgur-Wise function for weak transitions, and calculate the strong coupling constant of the doubly heavy baryon and pion. Numerical studies are also performed.

Lattice-QCD results provide an opportunity to model, and extrapolate to finite baryon density, the properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Upon fixing the scale of the thermal coupling constant and vacuum energy to the lattice data, the properties of resulting QGP equations of state (EoS) are developed. We show that the physical properties of the dense matter fireball formed in heavy ion collision experiments at CERN-SPS are well described by the QGP-EoS we presented. We also estimate the properties of the fireball formed in early stages of nuclear collision, and argue that QGP formation must be expected down to 40A GeV in central Pb--Pb interactions.

We give the alternative formulation of quasiparticle model of quark gluon plasma with medium dependent dispersion relation. The model is thermodynamically consistent provided the medium dependent contribution to the energy density is taken in to account. We establish the connection of our model with other variants of quasiparticle models which are thermodynamically consistent. We test the model by comparing the equation of state with the lattice gauge theory simulations of SU(3) pure gluodynamics .
In order to obtain the equation of state and construct hybrid stars, we calculate the thermodynamic potential in the two-flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with tensor-type four-point interaction between quarks. In addition, we impose the beta equilibrium and charge neutrality conditions on the system. We show that the tensor condensate appears at large chemical potential, however, it is difficult to hold hybrid stars with two-solar mass by using the equation of state with the tensor interaction. Although we cannot obtain the stars with two-solar mass because of the absense of the repulsive interaction, the estimated magnetic moment density is very large. Therefore, we expect that the tensor interaction descrobes the magnetic fields of compact stars.
