We find the complete equivalence group of a class of (1+1)-dimensional second-order evolution equations, which is infinite-dimensional. The equivariant moving frame methodology is invoked to construct, in the regular case of the normalization procedure, a moving frame for a group related to the equivalence group in the context of equivalence transformations among equations of the class under consideration. Using the moving frame constructed, we describe the algebra of differential invariants of the former group by obtaining a minimum generating set of differential invariants and a complete set of independent operators of invariant differentiation.

We carry out the enhanced group classification of a class of (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear diffusion-reaction equations with gradient-dependent diffusivity using the two-step version of the method of furcate splitting. For simultaneously finding the equivalence groups of an unnormalized class of differential equations and a collection of its subclasses, we suggest an optimized version of the direct method. The optimization includes the preliminary study of admissible transformations within the entire class and the successive splitting of the corresponding determining equations with respect to arbitrary elements and their derivatives depending on auxiliary constraints associated with each of required subclasses. In the course of applying the suggested technique to subclasses of the class under consideration, we construct, for the first time, a nontrivial example of finite-dimensional effective generalized equivalence group. Using the method of Lie reduction and the generalized separation of variables, exact solutions of some equations under consideration are found.
We discuss the classical statement of group classification problem and some its extensions in the general case. After that, we carry out the complete extended group classification for a class of (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear diffusion--convection equations with coefficients depending on the space variable. At first, we construct the usual equivalence group and the extended one including transformations which are nonlocal with respect to arbitrary elements. The extended equivalence group has interesting structure since it contains a non-trivial subgroup of non-local gauge equivalence transformations. The complete group classification of the class under consideration is carried out with respect to the extended equivalence group and with respect to the set of all point transformations. Usage of extended equivalence and correct choice of gauges of arbitrary elements play the major role for simple and clear formulation of the final results. The set of admissible transformations of this class is preliminary investigated.

This paper presents an observation that under reasonable conditions, many partial differential equations from mathematical physics possess three structural properties. One of them can be understand as a variant of the celebrated Onsager reciprocal relation in Modern Thermodynamics. It displays a direct relation of irreversible processes to the entropy change. We show that the properties imply various entropy dissipation conditions for hyperbolic relaxation problems. As an application of the observation, we propose an approximation method to solve relaxation problems. Moreover, the observation is interpreted physically and verified with eight (sets of) systems from different fields.

Lie group method provides an efficient tool to solve a differential equation. This paper suggests a fractional partner for fractional partial differential equations using a fractional characteristic method. A space-time fractional diffusion equation is used as an example to illustrate the effectiveness of the Lie group method.

We consider the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam-Tsingou (FPUT) chain composed by $N gg 1$ particles and periodic boundary conditions, and endow the phase space with the Gibbs measure at small temperature $beta^{-1}$. Given a fixed ${1leq m ll N}$, we prove that the first $m$ integrals of motion of the periodic Toda chain are adiabatic invariants of FPUT (namely they are approximately constant along the Hamiltonian flow of the FPUT) for times of order $beta$, for initial data in a set of large measure. We also prove that special linear combinations of the harmonic energies are adiabatic invariants of the FPUT on the same time scale, whereas they become adiabatic invariants for all times for the Toda dynamics.
