Given a compact Riemannian manifold (M n , g) with boundary $partial$M , we give an estimate for the quotient $partial$M f d$mu$ g M f d$mu$ g , where f is a smooth positive function defined on M that satisfies some inequality involving the scalar Laplacian. By the mean value lemma established in [37], we provide a differential inequality for f which, under some curvature assumptions, can be interpreted in terms of Bessel functions. As an application of our main result, a direct proof is given of the Faber-Krahn inequalities for Dirichlet and Robin Laplacian. Also, a new estimate is established for the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator that involves a positive root of Bessel function besides the scalar curvature. Independently, we extend the Robin Laplacian on functions to differential forms. We prove that this natural extension defines a self-adjoint and elliptic operator whose spectrum is discrete and consists of positive real eigenvalues. In particular, we characterize its first eigenvalue and provide a lower bound of it in terms of Bessel functions.

In this note, we derive the closed-form expression for the summation of series $sum_{n=0}^{infty}nJ_n(x)partial J_n/partial n$, which is found in the calculation of entanglement entropy in 2-d bosonic free field, in terms of $Y_0$, $J_0$ and an integral involving these two Bessel functions. Further, we point out the integral can be expressed as a Meijer G function.
We derive estimates relating the values of a solution at any two points to the distance between the points, for quasilinear isotropic elliptic equations on compact Riemannian manifolds, depending only on dimension and a lower bound for the Ricci curvature. These estimates imply sharp gradient bounds relating the gradient of an arbitrary solution at given height to that of a symmetric solution on a warped product model space. We also discuss the problem on Finsler manifolds with nonnegative weighted Ricci curvature, and on complete manifolds with bounded geometry, including solutions on manifolds with boundary with Dirichlet boundary condition. Particular cases of our results include gradient estimates of Modica type.

We demonstrate lower bounds for the eigenvalues of compact Bakry-Emery manifolds with and without boundary. The lower bounds for the first eigenvalue rely on a generalised maximum principle which allows gradient estimates in the Riemannian setting to be directly applied to the Bakry-Emery setting. Lower bounds for all eigenvalues are demonstrated using heat kernel estimates and a suitable Sobolev inequality.
We give lower bounds for the fundamental tone of open sets in minimal submanifolds immersed into warped product spaces of type $N^n times_f Q^q$, where $f in C^infty(N)$. We also study the essential spectrum of these minimal submanifolds.
We give estimates for the eigenvalues of multi-form modified Dirac operators which are constructed from a standard Dirac operator with the addition of a Clifford algebra element associated to a multi-degree form. In particular such estimates are presented for modified Dirac operators with a $k$-degree form $0leq kleq 4$, those modified with multi-degree $(0,k)$-form $0leq kleq 3$ and the horizon Dirac operators which are modified with a multi-degree $(1,2,4)$-form. In particular, we give the necessary geometric conditions for such operators to admit zero modes as well as those for the zero modes to be parallel with a respect to a suitable connection. We also demonstrate that manifolds which admit such parallel spinors are associated with twisted covariant form hierarchies which generalize the conformal Killing-Yano forms.
