IP protocol is the core of TCP/IP network layer. However, since IP address and its Domain Name are allocated and managed by a single agency, there are risks of centralization. The semantic overload of IP address also reduces its scalability and mobility, which further hinders the security. This paper proposes a co-governing Multi-Identifier Network (MIN) architecture that constructs a network layer with parallel coexistence of multiple identifiers, including identity, content, geographic information, and IP address. On the management plane, we develop an efficient management system using consortium blockchain with voting consensus, so the network can simultaneously manage and support by hundreds or thousands of nodes with high throughput. On the data plane, we propose an algorithm merging hash table and prefix tree (HTP) for FIB, which avoids the false-negative error and can inter-translate different identifiers with tens of billions of entries. Further, we propose a scheme to transport IP packets using CCN as a tunnel for supporting progressive deployment. We deployed the prototype of MIN to the largest operators network in Mainland China, Hongkong and Macao, and demonstrated that the network can register identifier under co-governing consensus algorithm, support VoD service very well.

The Internet has become the most important infrastructure of modern society, while the existing IP network is unable to provide high-quality service. The unilateralism IP network is unable to satisfy the Co-managing and Co-governing demands to Cyberspace for most Nations in the world as well. Facing this challenge, we propose a novel Decentralized Multilateral Co-Governing Post-IP Internet architecture. To verify its effectiveness, we develop the prototype on the operators networks including China Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao. The experiments and testing results show that this architecture is feasible for co-existing of Content-Centric Networking and IP network, and it might become a Chinese Solution to the world.
The evolution of software defined networking (SDN) has played a significant role in the development of next-generation networks (NGN). SDN as a programmable network having service provisioning on the fly has induced a keen interest both in academic world and industry. In this article, a comprehensive survey is presented on SDN advancement over conventional network. The paper covers historical evolution in relation to SDN, functional architecture of the SDN and its related technologies, and OpenFlow standards/protocols, including the basic concept of interfacing of OpenFlow with network elements (NEs) such as optical switches. In addition a selective architecture survey has been conducted. Our proposed architecture on software defined heterogeneous network, points towards new technology enabling the opening of new vistas in the domain of network technology, which will facilitate in handling of huge internet traffic and helps infrastructure and service providers to customize their resources dynamically. Besides, current research projects and various activities as being carried out to standardize SDN as NGN by different standard development organizations (SODs) have been duly elaborated to judge how this technology moves towards standardization.

The resource constraints and accuracy requirements for Internet of Things (IoT) memory chips need three-dimensional (3D) monolithic integrated circuits, of which the increasing stack layers (currently more than 176) also cause excessive energy consumption and increasing wire length. In this paper, a novel 3D wireless network on chips (3DWiNoCs) model transmitting signal directly to the destination in arbitrary layer is proposed and characterized. However, due to the the reflection and refraction characteristics in each layer, the complex and diverse wireless paths in 3DWiNoC add great difficulty to the channel characterization. To facilitate the modeling in massive layer NoC situation, both boundary-less model boundary-constrained 3DWiNoC model are proposed, of which the channel gain can be obtained by a computational efficient approximate algorithm. These 3DWiNoC models with approximation algorithm can well characterize the 3DWiNoC channel in aspect of complete reflection and refraction characteristics, and avoid massive wired connections, high power consumption of cross-layer communication and high-complexity of 3DWiNoC channel characterization. Numerical results show that: 1) The difference rate between the two models is lower than 0.001% (signal transmit through 20 layers); 2) the channel gain decreases sharply if refract time increases; and 3) the approximate algorithm can achieve an acceptable accuracy (error rate lower than 0.1%).

Present-day developments, in electrical power transmission and distribution, require considerations of the status quo. In other meaning, international regulations enforce increasing of reliability and reducing of environment impact, correspondingly they motivate developing of dependable systems. Power grids especially intelligent (smart grids) ones become industrial solutions that follow standardized development. The International standardization, in the field of power transmission and distribution, improve technology influences. The rise of dedicated standards for SAS (Substation Automation Systems) communications, such as the leading International Electro-technical Commission standard IEC 61850, enforces modern technological trends in this field. Within this standard, a constraint of low ETE (End-to-End) latency should be respected, and time-critical status transmission must be achieved. This experimental study emphasis on IEC 61850 SAS communication standard, e.g. IEC 61850 GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Events), to implement an investigational method to determine the protection communication delay. This method observes GOOSE behaviour by adopting monitoring and analysis capabilities. It is observed by using network test equipment, i.e. SPAN (Switch Port Analyser) and TAP (Test Access Point) devices, with on-the-shelf available hardware and software solutions.
The capacity of offloading data and control tasks to the network is becoming increasingly important, especially if we consider the faster growth of network speed when compared to CPU frequencies. In-network compute alleviates the host CPU load by running tasks directly in the network, enabling additional computation/communication overlap and potentially improving overall application performance. However, sustaining bandwidths provided by next-generation networks, e.g., 400 Gbit/s, can become a challenge. sPIN is a programming model for in-NIC compute, where users specify handler functions that are executed on the NIC, for each incoming packet belonging to a given message or flow. It enables a CUDA-like acceleration, where the NIC is equipped with lightweight processing elements that process network packets in parallel. We investigate the architectural specialties that a sPIN NIC should provide to enable high-performance, low-power, and flexible packet processing. We introduce PsPIN, a first open-source sPIN implementation, based on a multi-cluster RISC-V architecture and designed according to the identified architectural specialties. We investigate the performance of PsPIN with cycle-accurate simulations, showing that it can process packets at 400 Gbit/s for several use cases, introducing minimal latencies (26 ns for 64 B packets) and occupying a total area of 18.5 mm 2 (22 nm FDSOI).
