We derive an inequality for the linear entropy, that gives sharp bounds for all finite dimensional systems. The derivation is based on generalised Bloch decompositions and provides a strict improvement for the possible distribution of purities for all finite dimensional quantum states. It thus extends the widely used concept of entropy inequalities from the asymptotic to the finite regime, and should also find applications in entanglement detection and efficient experimental characterisations of quantum states.
Multipartite quantum system is complex. Characterizing the relations among the three bipartite reduced density operators $rho_{AB}$, $rho_{AC}$ and $rho_{BC}$ of a tripartite state $rho_{ABC}$ has been an open problem in quantum information. One of such relations has been reduced by [Cadney et al, LAA. 452, 153, 2014] to a conjectured inequality in terms of matrix rank, namely $r(rho_{AB}) cdot r(rho_{AC})ge r(rho_{BC})$ for any $rho_{ABC}$. It is denoted as open problem $41$ in the website Open quantum problems-IQOQI Vienna. We prove the inequality, and thus establish a complete picture of the four-party linear inequalities in terms of the $0$-entropy. Our proof is based on the construction of a novel canonical form of bipartite matrices under local equivalence. We apply our result to the marginal problem and the extension of inequalities in the multipartite systems, as well as the condition when the inequality is saturated.
We investigate possible generalizations of the Coffman-Kundu-Wootters monogamy inequality to four qubits, accounting for multipartite entanglement in addition to the bipartite terms. We show that the most natural extension of the inequality does not hold in general, and we describe the violations of this inequality in detail. We investigate alternative ways to extend the monogamy inequality to express a constraint on entanglement sharing valid for all four-qubit states, and perform an extensive numerical analysis of randomly generated four-qubit states to explore the properties of such extensions.
In recent papers, the theory of representations of finite groups has been proposed to analyzing the violation of Bell inequalities. In this paper, we apply this method to more complicated cases. For two partite system, Alice and Bob each make one of $d$ possible measurements, each measurement has $n$ outcomes. The Bell inequalities based on the choice of two orbits are derived. The classical bound is only dependent on the number of measurements $d$, but the quantum bound is dependent both on $n$ and $d$. Even so, when $d$ is large enough, the quantum bound is only dependent on $d$. The subset of probabilities for four parties based on the choice of six orbits under group action is derived and its violation is described. Restricting the six orbits to three parties by forgetting the last party, and guaranteeing the classical bound invariant, the Bell inequality based on the choice of four orbits is derived. Moreover, all the corresponding nonlocal games are analyzed.
Fawzi and Fawzi recently defined the sharp Renyi divergence, $D_alpha^#$, for $alpha in (1, infty)$, as an additional quantum Renyi divergence with nice mathematical properties and applications in quantum channel discrimination and quantum communication. One of their open questions was the limit ${alpha} to 1$ of this divergence. By finding a new expression of the sharp divergence in terms of a minimization of the geometric Renyi divergence, we show that this limit is equal to the Belavkin-Staszewski relative entropy. Analogous minimizations of arbitrary generalized divergences lead to a new family of generalized divergences that we call kringel divergences, and for which we prove various properties including the data-processing inequality.
In this paper, we derive a new generalisation of the strong subadditivity of the entropy to the setting of general conditional expectations onto arbitrary finite-dimensional von Neumann algebras. The latter inequality, which we call approximate tensorization of the relative entropy, can be expressed as a lower bound for the sum of relative entropies between a given density and its respective projections onto two intersecting von Neumann algebras in terms of the relative entropy between the same density and its projection onto an algebra in the intersection, up to multiplicative and additive constants. In particular, our inequality reduces to the so-called quasi-factorization of the entropy for commuting algebras, which is a key step in modern proofs of the logarithmic Sobolev inequality for classical lattice spin systems. We also provide estimates on the constants in terms of conditions of clustering of correlations in the setting of quantum lattice spin systems. Along the way, we show the equivalence between conditional expectations arising from Petz recovery maps and those of general Davies semigroups.
