We study the effect of uncorrelated random disorder on the temperature dependence of the superfluid stiffness in the two-dimensional classical XY model. By means of a perturbative expansion in the disorder potential, equivalent to the T-matrix approximation, we provide an extension of the effective-medium-theory result able to describe the low-temperature stiffness, and its separate diamagnetic and paramagnetic contributions. These analytical results provide an excellent description of the Monte Carlo simulations for two prototype examples of uncorrelated disorder. Our findings offer an interesting perspective on the effects of quenched disorder on longitudinal phase fluctuations in two-dimensional superfluid systems.

We develop an Effective Medium Theory to study the electrical transport properties of disordered graphene. The theory includes non-linear screening and exchange-correlation effects allowing us to consider experimentally relevant strengths of the Coulomb interaction. Assuming random Coulomb impurities, we calculate the electrical conductivity as a function of gate voltage describing quantitatively the full cross-over from the fluctuations dominated regime around the Dirac point to the large doping regime at high gate voltages. We find that the conductivity at the Dirac point is strongly affected by exchange correlation effects.
We present a short review of our studies of disorder influence upon Ginzburg - Landau expansion coefficients in Anderson - Hubbard model with attraction in the framework of the generalized DMFT+$Sigma$ approximation. A wide range of attractive potentials $U$ is considered - from weak coupling limit, where superconductivity is described by BCS model, to the limit of very strong coupling, where superconducting transition is related to Bose - Einstein condensation (BEC) of compact Cooper pairs, which are formed at temperatures significantly higher than the temperature of superconducting transition, as well as the wide range of disorders - from weak to strong, when the system is in the vicinity of Anderson transition. For the same range of parameters we study in detail the temperature behavior of orbital and paramagnetic upper critical field $H_{c2}(T)$, which demonstrates the anomalies both due to the growth of attractive potential and the effects of strong disordering.
The Mott-Anderson transition in the disordered charge-transfer model displays several new features in comparison to what is found in the disordered single-band Hubbard model, as recently demonstrated by large-scale computational (statistical dynamical mean field theory) studies. Here we show that a much simpler typical medium theory approach (TMT-DMFT) to the same model is able to capture most qualitative and even quantitative aspects of the phase diagram, the emergence of an intermediate electronic Griffiths phase, and the critical behavior close to the metal-insulator transition. Conceptual and mathematical simplicity of the TMT-DMFT formulation thus makes it possible to gain useful new insight into the mechanism of the Mott-Anderson transition in these models.
Motivated by recent proposals of correlation induced insensitivity of d-wave superconductors to impurities, we develop a simple pairing theory for these systems for up to a moderate strength of disorder. Our description implements the key ideas of Anderson, originally proposed for disordered s-wave superconductors, but in addition takes care of the inherent strong electronic repulsion in these compounds, as well as disorder induced inhomogeneities. We first obtain the self-consistent one-particle states, that capture the effects of disorder exactly, and strong correlations using Gutzwiller approximation. These `normal states, representing the interplay of strong correlations and disorder, when coupled through pairing attractions following the path of Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS), produce results nearly identical to those from a more sophisticated Gutzwiller augmented Bogoliubov-de Gennes analysis.
We study disorder effects upon the temperature behavior of the upper critical magnetic field in attractive Hubbard model within the generalized $DMFT+Sigma$ approach. We consider the wide range of attraction potentials $U$ - from the weak coupling limit, where superconductivity is described by BCS model, up to the strong coupling limit, where superconducting transition is related to Bose - Einstein condensation (BEC) of compact Cooper pairs, formed at temperatures significantly higher than superconducting transition temperature, as well as the wide range of disorder - from weak to strong, when the system is in the vicinity of Anderson transition. The growth of coupling strength leads to the rapid growth of $H_{c2}(T)$, especially at low temperatures. In BEC limit and in the region of BCS - BEC crossover $H_{c2}(T)$ dependence becomes practically linear. Disordering also leads to the general growth of $H_{c2}(T)$. In BCS limit of weak coupling increasing disorder lead both to the growth of the slope of the upper critical field in the vicinity of transition point and to the increase of $H_{c2}(T)$ in low temperature region. In the limit of strong disorder in the vicinity of the Anderson transition localization corrections lead to the additional growth of $H_{c2}(T)$ at low temperatures, so that the $H_{c2}(T)$ dependence becomes concave. In BCS - BEC crossover region and in BEC limit disorder only slightly influences the slope of the upper critical field close to $T_{c}$. However, in the low temperature region $H_{c2}(T)$ may significantly grow with disorder in the vicinity of the Anderson transition, where localization corrections notably increase $H_{c2}(T=0)$ also making $H_{c2}(T)$ dependence concave.
