In this paper we prove that weak solutions to the Diffusive Wave Approximation of the Shallow Water equations $$ partial_t u - ablacdot ((u-z)^alpha| abla u|^{gamma-1} abla u) = f $$ are locally bounded. Here, $u$ describes the height of the water, $z$ is a given function that represents the land elevation and $f$ is a source term accounting for evaporation, infiltration or rainfall.

We study the local behavior of bounded local weak solutions to a class of anisotropic singular equations that involves both non-degenerate and singular operators. Throughout a parabolic approach to expansion of positivity we obtain the interior Holder continuity, and some integral and pointwise Harnack inequalities.
We derive boundary conditions and estimates based on the energy and entropy analysis of systems of the nonlinear shallow water equations in two spatial dimensions. It is shown that the energy method provides more details, but is fully consistent with the entropy analysis. The details brought forward by the nonlinear energy analysis allow us to pinpoint where the difference between the linear and nonlinear analysis originate. We find that the result from the linear analysis does not necessarily hold in the nonlinear case. The nonlinear analysis leads in general to a different minimal number of boundary conditions compared with the linear analysis. In particular, and contrary to the linear case, the magnitude of the flow does not influence the number of required boundary conditions.

We consider small amplitude wave packet-like solutions to the 3D inviscid incompressible irrotational infinite depth water wave problem neglecting surface tension. Formal multiscale calculations suggest that the modulation of such a solution is described by a profile traveling at group velocity and governed by a hyperbolic cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation. In this paper we show that, given wave packet initial data, the corresponding solution exists and retains the form of a wave packet on natural NLS time scales. Moreover, we give rigorous error estimates between the true and formal solutions on the appropriate time scale in Sobolev spaces using the energy method. The proof proceeds by directly applying modulational analysis to the formulation of the 3D water wave problem developed by Sijue Wu.
We provide sufficient conditions on the coefficients of a stochastic evolution equation on a Hilbert space of functions driven by a cylindrical Wiener process ensuring that its mild solution is positive if the initial datum is positive. As an application, we discuss the positivity of forward rates in the Heath-Jarrow-Morton model via Musielas stochastic PDE.
We consider finite Morse index solutions to semilinear elliptic questions, and we investigate their smoothness. It is well-known that: - For $n=2$, there exist Morse index $1$ solutions whose $L^infty$ norm goes to infinity. - For $n geq 3$, uniform boundedness holds in the subcritical case for power-type nonlinearities, while for critical nonlinearities the boundedness of the Morse index does not prevent blow-up in $L^infty$. In this paper, we investigate the case of general supercritical nonlinearities inside convex domains, and we prove an interior a priori $L^infty$ bound for finite Morse index solution in the sharp dimensional range $3leq nleq 9$. As a corollary, we obtain uniform bounds for finite Morse index solutions to the Gelfand problem constructed via the continuity method.
