While there exists a significant number of web interactives for introductory physics, students are almost never shown the computer code that generates these interactives even when the physics parts of these programs are relatively simple. Building off of a set of carefully-designed classical mechanics programming exercises that were constructed with this goal in mind, we present a series of electromagnetism programming exercises in a browser-based framework called p5.js. Importantly, this framework can be used to highlight the physics aspects of an interactive simulation code while obscuring other details. This approach allows absolute beginner programmers to gain experience in modifying and running the program without becoming overwhelmed. We plan to probe the impact on student conceptual learning using the Brief Electricity and Magnetism Assessment and other questions. Incorporating computer programming exercises in introductory physics is a delicate task that involves a number of choices that may have a strong affect on student learning. We present an approach that speaks to a number of common concerns that arise when using programming exercises in introductory physics classes where most students are absolute beginner programmers. These students need an approach that is (1) simple, involving 75 or fewer lines of well-commented code, (2) easy to use, with browser-based coding tools, (3) interactive, with a high frame rate to give a video-game like feel, (4) step-by-step with the ability to interact with intermediate stages of the correct program and (5) thoughtfully integrated into the physics curriculum, for example, by illustrating velocity and acceleration vectors throughout. We present a set of hour-long activities for classical mechanics that resemble well-known games such as asteroids, lunar lander and angry birds. Survey results from the first activity from four semesters of introductory physics classes at OSU in which a high percentage of the students are weak or absolute beginner programmers seems to confirm that the level of difficulty is appropriate for this level and that the students enjoy the activity. Reliable preparation of entanglement between distant systems is an outstanding problem in quantum information science and quantum communication. In practice, this has to be accomplished via noisy channels (such as optical fibers) that generally result in exponential attenuation of quantum signals at large distances. A special class of quantum error correction protocols--quantum repeater protocols--can be used to overcome such losses. In this work, we introduce a method for systematically optimizing existing protocols and developing new, more efficient protocols. Our approach makes use of a dynamic programming-based searching algorithm, the complexity of which scales only polynomially with the communication distance, letting us efficiently determine near-optimal solutions. We find significant improvements in both the speed and the final state fidelity for preparing long distance entangled states.
Using geometric algebra and calculus to express the laws of electromagnetism we are able to present magnitudes and relations in a gradual way, escalating the number of dimensions. In the one-dimensional case, charge and current densities, the electric field E and the scalar and vector potentials get a geometric interpretation in spacetime diagrams. The geometric vector derivative applied to these magnitudes yields simple expressions leading to concepts like displacement current, continuity and gauge or retarded time, with a clear geometric meaning. As the geometric vector derivative is invertible, we introduce simple Greens functions and, with this, it is possible to obtain retarded Lienard-Wiechert potentials propagating naturally at the speed of light. In two dimensions, these magnitudes become more complex, and a magnetic field B appears as a pseudoscalar which was absent in the one-dimensional world. The laws of induction reflect the relations between E and B, and it is possible to arrive to the concepts of capacitor, electric circuit and Poynting vector, explaining the flow of energy. The solutions to the wave equations in this two-dimensional scenario uncover now the propagation of physical effects at the speed of light. This anticipates the same results in the real three-dimensional world, but endowed in this case with a nature which is totally absent in one or three dimensions. Electromagnetic waves propagating entirely at the speed of light can thus be viewed as a consequence of living in a world with an odd number of spatial dimensions. Finally, in the real three-dimensional world the same set of simple multivector differential expressions encode the fundamental laws and concepts of electromagnetism.
We propose the use of isotopically highly enriched detectors for the precise study of coherent-elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS). CEvNS has been measured for the first time in CsI and recently confirmed with a liquid argon detector. It is expected that several new experimental setups will measure this process with increasing accuracy. Taking Ge detectors as a working example, we demonstrate that a combination of different isotopes is an excellent option to probe, for instance, the dominant quadratic dependence on the number of neutrons, $N$, that is predicted by the theoretical models. This is only an example, but the scheme has much more general applicability. Experiments based on the new approach can make a simultaneous differential CEvNS measurements with detectors of different isotopic composition. Particular combination of observables could be used to cancel systematic errors.

In the current world of economic crises, the cost control is one of the chief concerns for all types of industries, especially for the small venders. The small vendors are suppose to minimize their budget on Information Technology by reducing the initial investment in hardware and costly database servers like ORACLE, SQL Server, SYBASE, etc. for the purpose of data processing and storing. In other divisions, the electronic devices manufacturing companies want to increase the demand and reduce the manufacturing cost by introducing the low cost technologies. The new small devices like ipods, iphones, palm top etc. are now-a-days used as data computation and storing tools. For both the cases mentioned above, instead of going for the costly database servers which additionally requires extra hardware as well as the extra expenses in training and handling, the flat file may be considered as a candidate due to its easy handling nature, fast accessing, and of course free of cost. But the main hurdle is the security aspects which are not up to the optimum level. In this paper, we propose a methodology that combines all the merit of the flat file and with the help of a novel steganographic technique we can maintain the utmost security fence. The new proposed methodology will undoubtedly be highly beneficial for small vendors as well as for the above said electronic devices manufacturer
