The soliton solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation are derived by the implementation of the dressing method. The form of the one and two soliton solutions coincides with the form obtained by other methods.
A dressing method is applied to a matrix Lax pair for the Camassa-Holm equation, thereby allowing for the construction of several global solutions of the system. In particular solutions of system of soliton and cuspon type are constructed explicitly. The interactions between soliton and cuspon solutions of the system are investigated. The geometric aspects of the Camassa-Holm equation ar re-examined in terms of quantities which can be explicitly constructed via the inverse scattering method.
An integrable semi-discretization of the Camassa-Holm equation is presented. The keys of its construction are bilinear forms and determinant structure of solutions of the CH equation. Determinant formulas of $N$-soliton solutions of the continuous and semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equations are presented. Based on determinant formulas, we can generate multi-soliton, multi-cuspon and multi-soliton-cuspon solutions. Numerical computations using the integrable semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equation are performed. It is shown that the integrable semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equation gives very accurate numerical results even in the cases of cuspon-cuspon and soliton-cuspon interactions. The numerical computation for an initial value condition, which is not an exact solution, is also presented.
We study the integrability and equivalence of a generalized Heisenberg ferromagnet-type equation (GHFE). The different forms of this equation as well as its reduction are presented. The Lax representation (LR) of the equation is obtained. We observe that the geometrical and gauge equivalent counterpart of the GHFE is the modified Camassa-Holm equation (mCHE) with an arbitrary parameter $kappa$. Finally, the 1-soliton solution of the GHFE is obtained.
It is shown that a strong solution of the Camassa-Holm equation, initially decaying exponentially together with its spacial derivative, must be identically equal to zero if it also decays exponentially at a later time. In particular, a strong solution of the Cauchy problem with compact initial profile can not be compactly supported at any later time unless it is the zero solution.
We provide a construction of the two-component Camassa-Holm (CH-2) hierarchy employing a new zero-curvature formalism and identify and describe in detail the isospectral set associated to all real-valued, smooth, and bounded algebro-geometric solutions of the $n$th equation of the stationary CH-2 hierarchy as the real $n$-dimensional torus $mathbb{T}^n$. We employ Dubrovin-type equations for auxiliary divisors and certain aspects of direct and inverse spectral theory for self-adjoint singular Hamiltonian systems. In particular, we employ Weyl-Titchmarsh theory for singular (canonical) Hamiltonian systems. While we focus primarily on the case of stationary algebro-geometric CH-2 solutions, we note that the time-dependent case subordinates to the stationary one with respect to isospectral torus questions.
