Alpha-decay energies for several chains of super-heavy nuclei are calculated within the self-consistent mean-field approach by using the Fayans functional FaNDF$^0$. They are compared to the experimental data and predictions of two Skyrme functionals, SLy4 and SkM*, and of the macro-micro method as well. The corresponding lifetimes are calculated with the use of the semi-phenomenological formulas by Parkhomenko and Sobiczewski and by Royer and Zhang.

Spontaneous fission and alpha decay are the main decay modes for superheavy nuclei. The superheavy nuclei which have small alpha decay half-life compared to spontaneous fission half-life will survive fission and can be detected in the laboratory through alpha decay. We have studied the alpha decay half-life and spontaneous half-life of some superheavy elements in the atomic range Z = 100-130. Spontaneous fission half-lives of superheavy nuclei have been calculated using the phenomenological formula and the alpha decay half-lives using Viola-Seaborg-Sobiczewski formula (Sobiczewski et al. 1989), semi empirical relation of Brown (1992) and formula based on generalized liquid drop model proposed by Dasgupta-Schubert and Reyes (2007). The results are reported here.
First calculations for deformed nuclei with the Fayans functional are carried out for the uranium and lead isotopic chains. The ground state deformations and deformation energies are compared to Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov results of HFB-17 and HFB-27 functionals. For the uranium isotopic chain, the Fayans functional predictions are rather similar properties compared to HFB-17 and HFB-27. However, there is a disagreement for the lead isotopic chain. Both of the Skyrme HFB functionals predict rather strong deformations for the light Pb isotopes which does not agree with the experimental data on charge radii and magnetic moments of the odd Pb isotopes. On the other hand, the Fayans functional predicts a spherical ground state for all of the lead isotopes, in accordance with the data and the known in literature results obtained with the Gogny D1S force and SLy6 functional as well. The deformation energy curves are calculated and compared to four Skyrme functionals, SLy4, Sly6, SkM* and UNEDF1, for $^{238}$U nucleus and several lead deficient Pb isotopes. In the first case, the Fayans functional result is rather close to SkM* and UNEDF1 which, in particularly the latter one, describe the first and second barriers in $^{238}$U rather well. For the light lead isotopes, the Fayans deformation energy curves are qualitatively close to those of the SLy6 functional.
A recent high-resolution $alpha$, $X$-ray, and $gamma$-ray coincidence-spectroscopy experiment offered first glimpse of excitation schemes of isotopes along $alpha$-decay chains of $Z=115$. To understand these observations and to make predictions about shell structure of superheavy nuclei below $^{288}115$, we employ two complementary mean-field models: self-consistent Skyrme Energy Density Functional approach and the macroscopic-microscopic Nilsson model. We discuss the spectroscopic information carried by the new data. In particular, candidates for the experimentally observed $E1$ transitions in $^{276}$Mt are proposed. We find that the presence and nature of low-energy $E1$ transitions in well-deformed nuclei around $Z=110, N=168$ strongly depends on the strength of the spin-orbit coupling; hence, it provides an excellent constraint on theoretical models of superheavy nuclei. To clarify competing theoretical scenarios, an experimental search for $E1$ transitions in odd-$A$ systems $^{275,277}$Mt, $^{275}$Hs, and $^{277}$Ds is strongly recommended.
In this paper, we analyze the structural properties of $Z=132$ and $Z=138$ superheavy nuclei within the ambit of axially deformed relativistic mean-field framework with NL$3^{*}$ parametrization and calculate the total binding energies, radii, quadrupole deformation parameter, separation energies, density distributions. We also investigate the phenomenon of shape coexistence by performing the calculations for prolate, oblate and spherical configurations. For clear presentation of nucleon distributions, the two-dimensional contour representation of individual nucleon density and total matter density has been made. Further, a competition between possible decay modes such as $alpha$-decay, $beta$-decay and spontaneous fission of the isotopic chain of superheavy nuclei with $Z=132$ within the range 312 $le$ A $le$ 392 and 318 $le$ A $le$ 398 for $Z=138$ is systematically analyzed within self-consistent relativistic mean field model. From our analysis, we inferred that the $alpha$-decay and spontaneous fission are the principal modes of decay in majority of the isotopes of superheavy nuclei under investigation apart from $beta$ decay as dominant mode of decay in $^{318-322}138$ isotopes.
Relativistic energy density functionals (REDF) provide a complete and accurate, global description of nuclear structure phenomena. A modern semi-empirical functional, adjusted to the nuclear matter equation of state and to empirical masses of deformed nuclei, is applied to studies of shapes of superheavy nuclei. The theoretical framework is tested in a comparison of calculated masses, quadrupole deformations, and potential energy barriers to available data on actinide isotopes. Self-consistent mean-field calculations predict a variety of spherical, axial and triaxial shapes of long-lived superheavy nuclei, and their alpha-decay energies and half-lives are compared to data. A microscopic, REDF-based, quadrupole collective Hamiltonian model is used to study the effect of explicit treatment of collective correlations in the calculation of Q{alpha} values and half-lives.
