In this paper we prove for rank one perturbations that negative two times reciprocal of the imaginary part of resonance point is equal to the rate of change of the scattering phase as a function of the coupling constant, where the coupling constant is equal to the real part of the resonance point. This equality is in agreement with Breit-Wigner formula from quantum scattering theory. For general relatively trace class perturbations, we also give a formula for the spectral shift function in terms of resonance points, non-real and real.
We study the trace class perturbations of the whole-line, discrete Laplacian and obtain a new bound for the perturbation determinant of the corresponding non-self-adjoint Jacobi operator. Based on this bound, we refine the Lieb--Thirring inequality due to Hansmann--Katriel. The spectral enclosure for such operators is also discussed.
It has been shown recently that spectral flow admits a natural integer-valued extension to essential spectrum. This extension admits four different interpretations; two of them are singular spectral shift function and total resonance index. In this work we study resonance index outside essential spectrum. Among results of this paper are the following. 1. Total resonance index satisfies Robbin-Salamon axioms for spectral flow. 2. Direct proof of equality total resonance index = intersection number. 3. Direct proof of equality total resonance index = total Fredholm index. 4. (a) Criteria for a perturbation~$V$ to be tangent to the~resonance set at a point~$H,$ where the resonance set is the infinite-dimensional variety of self-adjoint perturbations of the initial self-adjoint operator~$H_0$ which have~$lambda$ as an eigenvalue. (b) Criteria for the order of tangency of a perturbation~$V$ to the resonance set. 5. Investigation of the root space of the compact operator $(H_0+sV-lambda)^{-1}V$ corresponding to an eigenvalue $(s-r_lambda)^{-1},$ where $H_0+r_lambda V$ is a point of the resonance set. This analysis gives a finer information about behaviour of discrete spectrum compared to spectral flow. Finally, many results of this paper are non-trivial even in finite dimensions, in which case they can be and were tested in numerical experiments.
We investigate self-adjoint extensions of the minimal Kirchhoff Laplacian on an infinite metric graph. More specifically, the main focus is on the relationship between graph ends and the space of self-adjoint extensions of the corresponding minimal Kirchhoff Laplacian $mathbf{H}_0$. First, we introduce the notion of finite and infinite volume for (topological) ends of a metric graph and then establish a lower bound on the deficiency indices of $mathbf{H}_0$ in terms of the number of finite volume graph ends. This estimate is sharp and we also find a necessary and sufficient condition for the equality between the number of finite volume graph ends and the deficiency indices of $mathbf{H}_0$ to hold. Moreover, it turns out that finite volume graph ends play a crucial role in the study of Markovian extensions of $mathbf{H}_0$. In particular, we show that the minimal Kirchhoff Laplacian admits a unique Markovian extension exactly when every topological end of the underlying metric graph has infinite volume. In the case of finitely many finite volume ends (for instance, the latter includes Cayley graphs of a large class of finitely generated infinite groups) we are even able to provide a complete description of all Markovian extensions of $mathbf{H}_0$.
We consider a $2times 2$ system of 1D semiclassical differential operators with two Schrodinger operators in the diagonal part and small interactions of order $h^ u$ in the off-diagonal part, where $h$ is a semiclassical parameter and $ u$ is a constant larger than $1/2$. We study the absence of resonance near a non-trapping energy for both Schrodinger operators in the presence of crossings of their potentials. The width of resonances is estimated from below by $Mhlog(1/h)$ and the coefficient $M$ is given in terms of the directed cycles of the generalized bicharacteristics induced by two Hamiltonians.
We apply a recent result of Borichev-Golinskii-Kupin on the Blaschke-type conditions for zeros of analytic functions on the complex plane with a cut along the positive semi-axis to the problem of the eigenvalues distribution of the Fredholm-type analytic operator-valued functions.
