In this paper, we consider how to express an Iwahori--Whittaker function through Demazure characters. Under some interesting combinatorial conditions, we obtain an explicit formula and thereby a generalization of the Casselman--Shalika formula. Under the same conditions, we compute the transition matrix between two natural bases for the space of Iwahori fixed vectors of an induced representation of a p-adic group; this generalizes a result of Bump--Nakasuji.

The Demazure character formula is applied to the Verlinde formula for affine fusion rules. We follow Littelmanns derivation of a generalized Littlewood-Richardson rule from Demazure characters. A combinatorial rule for affine fusions does not result, however. Only a modified version of the Littlewood-Richardson rule is obtained that computes an (old) upper bound on the fusion coefficients of affine $A_r$ algebras. We argue that this is because the characters of simple Lie algebras appear in this treatment, instead of the corresponding affine characters. The Bruhat order on the affine Weyl group must be implicated in any combinatorial rule for affine fusions; the Bruhat order on subgroups of this group (such as the finite Weyl group) does not suffice.

This paper studies the properties of Demazure atoms and characters using linear operators and also tableaux-combinatorics. It proves the atom-positivity property of the product of a dominating monomial and an atom, which was an open problem. Furthermore, it provides a combinatorial proof to the key-positivity property of the product of a dominating monomial and a key using skyline fillings, an algebraic proof to the key-positivity property of the product of a Schur function and a key using linear operator and verifies the first open case for the conjecture of key-positivity of the product of two keys using linear operators and polytopes.

In this brief essay a construction of the $2$-variable L-function of Langlands is sketched in terms of monomial resolutions of admissible representations of reductive locally $p$-adic Lie groups.
We investigate Fourier coefficients of automorphic forms on split simply-laced Lie groups G. We show that for automorphic representations of small Gelfand-Kirillov dimension the Fourier coefficients are completely determined by certain degenerate Whittaker vectors on G. Although we expect our results to hold for arbitrary simply-laced groups, we give complete proofs only for G=SL(3) and G=SL(4). This is based on a method of Ginzburg that associates Fourier coefficients of automorphic forms with nilpotent orbits of G. Our results complement and extend recent results of Miller and Sahi. We also use our formalism to calculate various local (real and p-adic) spherical vectors of minimal representations of the exceptional groups E_6, E_7, E_8 using global (adelic) degenerate Whittaker vectors, correctly reproducing existing results for such spherical vectors obtained by very different methods.
The $b$-Whittaker functions are eigenfunctions of the modular $q$-deformed $mathfrak{gl}_n$ open Toda system introduced by Kharchev, Lebedev, and Semenov-Tian-Shansky. Using the quantum inverse scattering method, the named authors obtained a Mellin-Barnes integral representation for these eigenfunctions. In the present paper, we develop the analytic theory of the $b$-Whittaker functions from the perspective of quantum cluster algebras. We obtain a formula for the modular open Toda systems Baxter operator as a sequence of quantum cluster transformations, and thereby derive a new modular $b$-analog of Giventals integral formula for the undeformed Whittaker function. We also show that the $b$-Whittaker functions are eigenvectors of the Dehn twist operator from quantum higher Teichmuller theory, and obtain $b$-analogs of various integral identities satisfied by the undeformed Whittaker functions, including the continuous Cauchy-Littlewood identity of Stade and Corwin-OConnell-Seppalainen-Zygouras. Using these results, we prove the unitarity of the $b$-Whittaker transform, thereby completing the analytic part of the proof of the conjecture of Frenkel and Ip on tensor products of positive representations of $U_q(mathfrak{sl}_n)$, as well as the main step in the modular functor conjecture of Fock and Goncharov. We conclude by explaining how the theory of $b$-Whittaker functions can be used to derive certain hyperbolic hypergeometric integral evaluations found by Rains.
