We present a new set of leading twist parton distribution functions, referred to as CJ15, which take advantage of developments in the theoretical treatment of nuclear corrections as well as new data. The analysis includes for the first time data on the free neutron structure function from Jefferson Lab, and new high-precision charged lepton and W-boson asymmetry data from Fermilab. These significantly reduce the uncertainty on the d/u ratio at large values of x and provide new insights into the partonic structure of bound nucleons.

We present our QCD analysis of the proton structure function $F_2^p(x,Q^2)$ to determine the parton distributions at the next-to-leading order (NLO). The heavy quark contributions to $F_2^i(x,Q^2)$, with $i$ = $c$, $b$ have been included in the framework of the `fixed flavour number scheme (FFNS). The results obtained in the FFNS are compared with available results such as the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme (GM-VFNS) and other prescriptions used in global fits of PDFs. In the present QCD analysis, we use a wide range of the inclusive neutral-current deep-inelastic-scattering (NC DIS) data, including the most recent data for charm $F_2^c$, bottom $F_2^b$, longitudinal $F_L$ structure functions and also the reduced DIS cross sections $sigma_{r,NC}^pm$ from HERA experiments. The most recent HERMES data for proton and deuteron structure functions are also added. We take into account ZEUS neutral current $e^ pm p$ DIS inclusive jet cross section data from HERA together with the recent Tevatron Run-II inclusive jet cross section data from CDF and D{O}. The impact of these recent DIS data on the PDFs extracted from the global fits are studied. We present two families of PDFs, {tt KKT12} and {tt KKT12C}, without and with HERA `combined data sets on $e^{pm}p$ DIS. We find these are in good agreement with the available theoretical models.
New data sets have recently become available for neutrino and antineutrino deep inelastic scattering on nuclear targets and for inclusive dimuon production in pp pd interactions. These data sets are sensitive to different combinations of parton distribution functions in the large-x region and, therefore, provide different constraints when incorporated into global parton distribution function fits. We compare and contrast the effects of these new data on parton distribution fits, with special emphasis on the effects at large x. The effects of the use of nuclear targets in the neutrino and antineutrino data sets are also investigated.
We study the $W^+W^-$ and $Z^0Z^0$ electroweak boson production in double parton scattering using QCD evolution equations for double parton distributions. In particular, we analyze the impact of splitting terms in the evolution equations on the double parton scattering cross sections. Unlike the standard terms, the splitting terms are not suppressed for large values of the relative momentum of two partons in the double parton scattering. Thus, they play an important role which we discuss in detail for the single splitting contribution to the cross sections under the study.
Using QCD calculations of the cross section of inclusive dijet photoproduction in Pb-Pb ultraperipheral collisions in the LHC kinematics as pseudo-data, we study the effect of including these data using the Bayesian reweighting technique on nCTEQ15, nCTEQ15np, and EPPS16 nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs). We find that, depending on the assumed error of the pseudo-data, it leads to a significant reduction of the nPDF uncertainties at small values of the momentum fraction $x_A$. Taking the error to be 5%, the uncertainty of nCTEQ15 and nCTEQ15np nPDFs reduces approximately by a factor of two at $x_A=10^{-3}$. At the same time, the reweighting effect on EPPS16 nPDFs is much smaller due to the higher value of the tolerance and a more flexible parametrization form.
In the QCD evolution of transverse momentum dependent parton distribution and fragmentation functions, the Collins-Soper evolution kernel includes both a perturbative short-distance contribution as well as a large-distance non-perturbative, but strongly universal, contribution. In the past, global fits, based mainly on larger $Q$ Drell-Yan-like processes, have found substantial contributions from non-perturbative regions in the Collins-Soper evolution kernel. In this article, we investigate semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering measurements in the region of relatively small $Q$, of the order of a few GeV, where sensitivity to non-perturbative transverse momentum dependence may become more important or even dominate the evolution. Using recently available deep inelastic scattering data from the COMPASS experiment, we provide estimates of the regions of coordinate space that dominate in TMD processes when the hard scale is of the order of only a few GeV. We find that distance scales that are much larger than those commonly probed in large $Q$ measurements become important, suggesting that the details of non-perturbative effects in TMD evolution are especially significant in the region of intermediate $Q$. We highlight the strongly universal nature of the non-perturbative component of evolution, and its potential to be tightly constrained by fits from a wide variety of observables that include both large and moderate $Q$. On this basis, we recommend detailed treatments of the non-perturbative component of the Collins-Soper evolution kernel for future TMD studies.
