We propose the exact calculation of the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of mutual information (MI) for a two-user MIMO MAC network over block Rayleigh fading channels. So far the PDF and CDF have been numerically evaluated since MI depends on the quotient of two Wishart matrices, and no closed-form for this quotient was available. We derive exact results for the PDF and CDF of extreme (the smallest/the largest) eigenvalues. Based on the results of quotient ensemble the exact calculation for PDF and CDF of mutual information is presented via Laplace transform approach and by direct integration of joint PDF of quotient ensembles eigenvalues. Furthermore, our derivations also provide the parameters to apply the Gaussian approximation method, which is comparatively easier to implement. We show that approximation matches the exact results remarkably well for outage probability, i.e. CDF, above 10%. However, the approximation could also be used for 1% outage probability with a relatively small error. We apply the derived expressions to analyze the effects of adding receiving antennas on the receivers performance. By supposing no channel knowledge at transmitters and successive decoding at receiver, the capacity of the first user increases and outage probability decreases with extra antennas, as expected.

Estimators for mutual information are typically biased. However, in the case of the Kozachenko-Leonenko estimator for metric spaces, a type of nearest neighbour estimator, it is possible to calculate the bias explicitly.
This paper analyzes MIMO systems with multichannel beamforming in Ricean fading. Our results apply to a wide class of multichannel systems which transmit on the eigenmodes of the MIMO channel. We first present new closed-form expressions for the marginal ordered eigenvalue distributions of complex noncentral Wishart matrices. These are used to characterize the statistics of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) on each eigenmode. Based on this, we present exact symbol error rate (SER) expressions. We also derive closed-form expressions for the diversity order, array gain, and outage probability. We show that the global SER performance is dominated by the subchannel corresponding to the minimum channel singular value. We also show that, at low outage levels, the outage probability varies inversely with the Ricean K-factor for cases where transmission is only on the most dominant subchannel (i.e. a singlechannel beamforming system). Numerical results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.
In this paper, code pairs based on trellis coded modulation are proposed over PSK signal sets for a two-user Gaussian multiple access channel. In order to provide unique decodability property to the receiver and to maximally enlarge the constellation constrained (CC) capacity region, a relative angle of rotation is introduced between the signal sets. Subsequently, the structure of the textit{sum alphabet} of two PSK signal sets is exploited to prove that Ungerboeck labelling on the trellis of each user maximizes the guaranteed minimum squared Euclidean distance, $d^{2}_{g, min}$ in the textit{sum trellis}. Hence, such a labelling scheme can be used systematically to construct trellis code pairs for a two-user GMAC to approach emph{any rate pair} within the capacity region.
In this paper, we want to show the Restricted Wishart distribution is equivalent to the LKJ distribution, which is one way to specify a uniform distribution from the space of positive definite correlation matrices. Based on this theorem, we propose a new method to generate random correlation matrices from the LKJ distribution. This new method is faster than the original onion method for generating random matrices, especially in the low dimension ($T<120$) situation.
The robustness of system throughput with scheduling is a critical issue. In this paper, we analyze the sensitivity of multi-user scheduling performance to channel misreporting in systems with massive antennas. The main result is that for the round-robin scheduler combined with max-min power control, the channel magnitude misreporting is harmful to the scheduling performance and has a different impact from the purely physical layer analysis. Specifically, for the homogeneous users that have equal average signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), underreporting is harmful, while overreporting is beneficial to others. In underreporting, the asymptotic rate loss on others is derived, which is tight when the number of antennas is huge. One interesting observation in our research is that the rate loss periodically increases and decreases as the number of misreporters grows. For the heterogeneous users that have various SNRs, both underreporting and overreporting can degrade the scheduler performance. We observe that strong misreporting changes the user grouping decision and hence greatly decreases some users rates regardless of others gaining rate improvements, while with carefully designed weak misreporting, the scheduling decision keeps fixed and the rate loss on others is shown to grow nearly linearly with the number of misreporters.
