As galaxy surveys begin to measure the imprint of baryonic acoustic oscillations (BAO) on large-scale structure at the sub-percent level, reconstruction techniques that reduce the contamination from nonlinear clustering become increasingly important. Inverting the nonlinear continuity equation, we propose an Eulerian growth-shift reconstruction algorithm that does not require the displacement of any objects, which is needed for the standard Lagrangian BAO reconstruction algorithm. In real-space DM-only simulations the algorithm yields 95% of the BAO signal-to-noise obtained from standard reconstruction. The reconstructed power spectrum is obtained by adding specific simple 3- and 4-point statistics to the pre-reconstruction power spectrum, making it very transparent how additional BAO information from higher-point statistics is included in the power spectrum through the reconstruction process. Analytical models of the reconstructed density for the two algorithms agree at second order. Based on similar modeling efforts, we introduce four additional reconstruction algorithms and discuss their performance.

Motivated by the results presented in a companion paper, here we give a simple analytical expression for the matter n-point functions in the Zeldovich approximation (ZA) both in real and in redshift space (including the angular case). We present numerical results for the 2-dimensional redshift-space correlation function, as well as for the equilateral configuration for the real-space 3-point function. We compare those to the tree-level results. Our analysis is easily extendable to include Lagrangian bias, as well as higher-order perturbative corrections to the ZA. The results should be especially useful for modelling probes of large-scale structure in the linear regime, such as the Baryon Acoustic Oscillations. We make the numerical code used in this paper freely available.

A formula of Stembridge states that the permutation peak polynomials and descent polynomials are connected via a quadratique transformation. The aim of this paper is to establish the cycle analogue of Stembridges formula by using cycle peaks and excedances of permutations. We prove a series of new general formulae expressing polynomials counting permutations by various excedance statistics in terms of refined Eulerian polynomials. Our formulae are comparable with Zhuangs generalizations [Adv. in Appl. Math. 90 (2017) 86-144] using descent statistics of permutations. Our methods include permutation enumeration techniques involving variations of classical bijections from permutations to Laguerre histories, explicit continued fraction expansions of combinatorial generating functions in Shin and Zeng [European J. Combin. 33 (2012), no. 2, 111--127] and cycle version of modified Foata-Strehl action. We also prove similar formulae for restricted permutations such as derangements and permutations avoiding certain patterns. Moreover, we provide new combinatorial interpretations for the $gamma$-coefficients of the inversion polynomials restricted on $321$-avoiding permutations.
An observational tension on estimates of the Hubble parameter, $H_0$, using early and late Universe information, is being of intense discussion in the literature. Additionally, it is of great importance to measure $H_0$ independently of CMB data and local distance ladder method. In this sense, we analyze 15 measurements of the transversal BAO scale, $theta_{rm BAO}$, obtained in a weakly model-dependent approach, in combination with other data sets obtained in a model-independent way, namely, Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) information, 6 gravitationally lensed quasars with measured time delays by the H0LiCOW team, and measures of cosmic chronometers (CC). We find $H_0 = 74.88_{-2.1}^{+1.9}$ km s${}^{-1}$ Mpc${}^{-1}$ and $H_0 = 72.06_{-1.3}^{+1.2}$ km s${}^{-1}$ Mpc${}^{-1}$ from $theta_{BAO}$+BBN+H0LiCOW and $theta_{BAO}$+BBN+CC, respectively, in fully accordance with local measurements. Moreover, we estimate the sound horizon at drag epoch, $r_{rm d}$, independent of CMB data, and find $r_{rm d}=144.1_{-5.5}^{+5.3}$ Mpc (from $theta_{BAO}$+BBN+H0LiCOW) and $r_{rm d} =150.4_{-3.3}^{+2.7}$ Mpc (from $theta_{BAO}$+BBN+CC). In a second round of analysis, we test how the presence of a possible spatial curvature, $Omega_k$, can influence the main results. We compare our constraints on $H_0$ and $r_{rm d}$ with other reported values. Our results show that it is possible to use a robust compilation of transversal BAO data, $theta_{BAO}$, jointly with other model-independent measurements, in such a way that the tension on the Hubble parameter can be alleviated.

We present here a new algorithm for the fast computation of N-point correlation functions in large astronomical data sets. The algorithm is based on kdtrees which are decorated with cached sufficient statistics thus allowing for orders of magnitude speed-ups over the naive non-tree-based implementation of correlation functions. We further discuss the use of controlled approximations within the computation which allows for further acceleration. In summary, our algorithm now makes it possible to compute exact, all-pairs, measurements of the 2, 3 and 4-point correlation functions for cosmological data sets like the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS; York et al. 2000) and the next generation of Cosmic Microwave Background experiments (see Szapudi et al. 2000).
Cosmography provides a model-independent way to map the expansion history of the Universe. In this paper we simulate a Euclid-like survey and explore cosmographic constraints from future Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) observations. We derive general expressions for the BAO transverse and radial modes and discuss the optimal order of the cosmographic expansion that provide reliable cosmological constraints. Through constraints on the deceleration and jerk parameters, we show that future BAO data have the potential to provide a model-independent check of the cosmic acceleration as well as a discrimination between the standard $Lambda$CDM model and alternative mechanisms of cosmic acceleration.
