A new model of jet quenching in nuclear collisions, CUJET3.0, is constructed by generalizing the perturbative QCD based CUJET2.0 model to include two complementary non-perturbative features of the QCD confinement cross-over phase transition near $T_capprox 160$ MeV: (1) the suppression of quark and gluon degrees of freedom and (2) the emergence of chromo-magnetic monopole degrees of freedom. Such a semi-Quark-Gluon-Monopole Plasma (sQGMP) microscopic scenario is tested by comparing predictions of the leading hadron nuclear modification factors, $R^h_{AA}(p_T>10{rm GeV/c},sqrt{s})$, and their azimuthal elliptic asymmetry $v^h_2(p_T>10{rm GeV/c},sqrt{s})$ with available data on $h=pi,D,B$ jet fragments from nuclear collisions at RHIC($sqrt{s}=0.2$ ATeV) and LHC($sqrt{s}$=2.76 ATeV). The sQGMP model is shown to solve the long standing $R_{AA}$ vs $v_2$ puzzle by predicting a maximum of the jet quenching parameter field $hat{q}(E,T)/T^3$ near $T_c$. The consistency of jet quenching with observed bulk perfect fluidity is demonstrated by extrapolating the sQGMP $hat{q}$ down to thermal energy $Esim 3 T$ scales and showing that the sQGMP shear viscosity to entropy density ratio $eta/s approx T^3/hat{q}$ falls close to the unitarity bound, $1/4pi$, in the range $(1-2)T_c$. Detailed comparisons of CUJET2.0 and CUJET3.0 reveal that the remarkably different $hat{q}(T)$ could be consistent with the same $R_{AA}$ data and could only be distinguished by anisotropy observables. These findings demonstrate clearly the inadequacy of focusing on the jet path averaged quantity $<hat{q}>$ as the only relevant medium property to characterize jet quenching, and point to the crucial roles of other essential factors, such as the chromo electric and magnetic composites of the plasma, the screening masses and the running couplings at multiple scales that all strongly influence jet energy loss.

Holography provides a novel method to study the physics of Quark Gluon Plasmas, complementary to the ordinary field theory and lattice approaches. In this context, we analyze the informations that can be obtained for strongly coupled Plasmas containing dynamical flavors, also in the presence of a finite baryon chemical potential. In particular, we discuss the jet quenching and the hydrodynamic transport coefficients.
We evaluate heavy-quark (HQ) transport properties in a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) employing interaction potentials extracted from thermal lattice QCD. Within a Brueckner many-body scheme we calculate in-medium T-matrices for charm- and bottom-quark scattering off light quarks in the QGP. The interactions are dominated by attractive meson and diquark channels which support bound and resonance states up to temperatures of ~1.5 T_c. We apply pertinent drag and diffusion coefficients (supplemented by perturbative scattering off gluons) in Langevin simulations in an expanding fireball to compute HQ spectra and elliptic flow in sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV Au-Au collisions. We find good agreement with semileptonic electron-decay spectra which supports our nonperturbative computation of the HQ diffusion coefficient, suggestive for a strongly coupled QGP.
We develop a new heavy quark transport model, QLBT, to simulate the dynamical propagation of heavy quarks inside the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Our QLBT model is based on the linear Boltzmann transport (LBT) model with the ideal QGP replaced by a collection of quasi-particles to account for the non-perturbative interactions among quarks and gluons of the hot QGP. The thermal masses of quasi-particles are fitted to the equation of state from lattice QCD simulations using the Bayesian statistical analysis method. Combining QLBT with our advanced hybrid fragmentation-coalescence hadronization approach, we calculate the nuclear modification factor $R_mathrm{AA}$ and the elliptic flow $v_2$ of $D$ mesons at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider. By comparing our QLBT calculation to the experimental data on the $D$ meson $R_mathrm{AA}$ and $v_2$, we extract the heavy quark transport parameter $hat{q}$ and diffusion coefficient $D_mathrm{s}$ in the temperature range of $1-4~T_mathrm{c}$, and compare them with the lattice QCD results and other phenomenological studies.
Jets and photons could play an important role in finding the transport coefficients of the quark-gluon plasma. To this end we analyze their interaction with a non-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma. Using new field-theoretical tools we derive two-point correlators for the plasma which show how instabilities evolve in time. This allows us, for the first time, to derive finite rates of interaction with the medium. We furthermore show that coherent, long-wavelength instability fields in the Abelian limit do not modify the rate of photon emission or jet-medium interaction.

We consider the thermal production of dileptons and photons at temperatures above the critical temperature in QCD. We use a model where color excitations are suppressed by a small value of the Polyakov loop, the semi Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Comparing the semi-QGP to the perturbative QGP, we find a mild enhancement of thermal dileptons. In contrast, to leading logarithmic order in weak coupling there are far fewer hard photons from the semi-QGP than the usual QGP. To illustrate the possible effects on photon and dileptons production in heavy ion collisions, we integrate the rate with a realistic hydrodynamic simulation. Dileptons uniformly exhibit a small flow, but the strong suppression of photons in the semi-QGP tends to bias the elliptical flow of photons to that generated in the hadronic phase.
