It is possible to define a general initial state for a quantum field by introducing a contribution to the action defined at an initial-time boundary. The propagator for this theory is composed of two parts, one associated with the free propagation of fields and another produced by the operators of this initial action. The derivation of this propagator is shown for the case of a translationally and rotationally invariant initial state. In addition to being able to treat more general states, these techniques can also be applied to effective field theories that start from an initial time. The eigenstates of a theory with interacting heavy and light fields are different from the eigenstates of the theory in the limit where the interactions vanish. Therefore, a product of states of the noninteracting heavy and light theories will usually contain excitations of the heavier state once the interactions are included. Such excitations appear as nonlocal effects in the effective theory, which are suppressed by powers of the mass of the heavy field. By appropriately choosing the initial action, these excitations can be excised from the state leaving just effects that would be produced by a local action of the lighter fields.

We consider spacetime initiated by a finite-sized boundary on which a pure initial matter state is set as a natural generalization of the Hartle-Hawking no-boundary state. We study entanglement entropy of the gravitationally prepared matter state at the final time slice. We find that the entropy of the initial state or the entanglement island gives the entropy for large subregions on the final time slice. Consequently, we find the entanglement entropy is bounded from above by the boundary area of the island, leading to an entropy bound in terms of the island formula. The island $I$ appears in the analytically continued spacetime, either at the bra or the ket part of the spacetime in Schwinger-Keldysh formalism, and the entropy is given by an average of pseudo entropy of each entanglement island. We find a necessary condition of the initial state to be consistent with the strong sub-additivity. The condition requires that any probe degrees of freedom are thermally entangled with the rest of the system. We then study which initial condition leads to our finite-sized initial boundary or the Hartle-Hawking no-boundary state. Due to the absence of a moment of time reflection symmetry, the island in our setup requires a generalization of the entanglement wedge, which we call {it{pseudo entanglement wedge}}. In pseudo entanglement wedge reconstruction, we consider reconstructing the bulk matter transition matrix on $Acup I$, from a fine-grained state on $A$. The bulk transition matrix is given by a thermofield double state with a projection by the initial state. We provide an AdS/BCFT model, which provides a double holography model of our setup by considering EOW branes with corners. We also find the exponential hardness of such reconstruction task using a generalization of Pythons lunch conjecture to pseudo generalized entropy.
We show here how Renormalized Perturbation Theory (RPT) calculations applied to the quasi-linear growth of the large-scale structure can be carried on in presence of primordial non-Gaussian (PNG) initial conditions. It is explicitly demonstrated that the series reordering scheme proposed in Bernardeau, Crocce and Scoccimarro (2008) is preserved for non-Gaussian initial conditions. This scheme applies to the power spectrum and higher order spectra and is based on a reorganization of the contributing terms into sum of products of multi-point propagators. In case of PNG new contributing terms appear, the importance of which is discussed in the context of current PNG models. The properties of the building blocks of such resummation schemes, the multi-point propagators, are then investigated. It is first remarked that their expressions are left unchanged at one-loop order irrespectively of statistical properties of the initial field. We furthermore show that the high-momemtum limit of each of these propagators can be explicitly computed even for arbitrary initial conditions. They are found to be damped by an exponential cutoff whose expression is directly related to the moment generating function of the one-dimensional displacement field. This extends what had been established for multi-point propagators for Gaussian initial conditions. Numerical forms of the cut-off are shown for the so-called local model of PNG.

We derive the form of the infrared gluon propagator by proving a mapping in the infrared of the quantum Yang-Mills and $lambdaphi^4$ theories. The equivalence is complete at a classical level. But while at a quantum level, the correspondence is spoiled by quantum fluctuations in the ultraviolet limit, we prove that it holds in the infrared where the coupling constant happens to be very large. The infrared propagator is then obtained from the quantum field theory of the scalar field producing a full spectrum. The results are in fully agreement with recent lattice computations. We get a finite propagator at zero momentum, the ghost propagator going to infinity as $1/p^{2+2kappa}$ with $kappa=0$.

Local formulations of quantum field theory provide a powerful framework in which non-perturbative aspects of QCD can be analysed. Here we report on how this approach can be used to elucidate the general analytic features of QCD propagators, and why this is relevant for understanding confinement.
