Entanglement entropy in a field theory, with a holographic dual, may be viewed as a quantity which encodes the diffeomorphism invariant bulk gravity dynamics. This, in particular, indicates that the bulk Einstein equations would imply some constraints for the boundary entanglement entropy. In this paper we focus on the change in entanglement entropy, for small but arbitrary fluctuations about a given state, and analyze the constraints imposed on it by the perturbative Einstein equations, linearized about the corresponding bulk state. Specifically, we consider linear fluctuations about BTZ black hole in 3 dimension, pure AdS and AdS Schwarzschild black holes in 4 dimensions and obtain a diffeomorphism invariant reformulation of linearized Einstein equation in terms of holographic entanglement entropy. We will also show that entanglement entropy for boosted subsystems provides the information about all the components of the metric with a time index.

Verlindes heuristic argument for the interpretation of the standard Newtonian gravitational force as an entropic force is generalized by the introduction of a minimum temperature (or maximum wave length) for the microscopic degrees of freedom on the holographic screen. With the simplest possible setup, the resulting gravitational acceleration felt by a test mass m from a point mass M at a distance R is found to be of the form of the modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) as suggested by Milgrom. The corresponding MOND-type acceleration constant is proportional to the minimum temperature, which can be interpreted as the Unruh temperature of an emerging de-Sitter space. This provides a possible explanation of the connection between local MOND-type two-body systems and cosmology.

In classical thermodynamics, heat cannot spontaneously pass from a colder system to a hotter system, which is called the thermodynamic arrow of time. However, if the initial states are entangled, the direction of the thermodynamic arrow of time may not be guaranteed. Here we take the thermofield double state at $0+1$ dimension as the initial state and assume its gravity duality to be the eternal black hole in AdS$_2$ space. We make the temperature difference between the two sides by changing the Hamiltonian. We turn on proper interaction between the two sides and calculate the changes in energy and entropy. The energy transfer, as well as the thermodynamic arrow of time, are mainly determined by the competition between two channels: thermal diffusion and anomalous heat flow. The former is not related to the wormhole and obeys the thermodynamic arrow of time; the latter is related to the wormhole and reverses the thermodynamic arrow of time, i.e. transferring energy from the colder side to the hotter side at the cost of entanglement consumption. Finally, we find that the thermal diffusion wins the competition, and the whole thermodynamic arrow of time has not been reversed.

In this paper, we study the fine structure of entanglement in holographic two-dimensional boundary conformal field theories (BCFT) in terms of the spatially resolved quasilocal extension of entanglement entropy - entanglement contour. We find that the boundary induces discontinuities in the contour revealing hidden localization-delocalization patterns of entanglement degrees of freedom. Moreover, we observe the formation of ``islands where the entanglement contour vanishes identically implying that these regions do not contribute to the entanglement at all. We argue that these phenomena are the manifestation of entanglement islands discussed recently in the literature. We apply the entanglement contour proposal to the recently proposed BCFT black hole models reproducing the Page curve - moving mirror model and the pair of BCFT in the thermofield double state. From the viewpoint of entanglement contour, the Page curve also carries the imprint of strong delocalization caused by dynamical entanglement islands.
In the previous paper [arXiv:0911.0679], we showed that the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole in the 5-dimensional anti-de Sitter space coupled to the Maxwell theory with the Chern-Simons term is unstable when the Chern-Simons coupling is sufficiently large. In the dual conformal field theory, the instability suggests a spatially modulated phase transition. In this paper, we construct and analyze non-linear solutions which describe the end-point of this phase transition. In the limit where the Chern-Simons coupling is large, we find that the phase transition is of the second order with the mean field critical exponent. However, the dispersion relation with the Van Hove singularity enhances quantum corrections in the bulk, and we argue that this changes the order of the phase transition from the second to the first. We compute linear response functions in the non-linear solution and find an infinite off-diagonal DC conductivity in the new phase.
We discuss, from a quantum information perspective, recent proposals of Maldacena, Ryu, Takayanagi, van Raamsdonk, Swingle, and Susskind that spacetime is an emergent property of the quantum entanglement of an associated boundary quantum system. We review the idea that the informational principle of minimal complexity determines a dual holographic bulk spacetime from a minimal quantum circuit U preparing a given boundary state from a trivial reference state. We describe how this idea may be extended to determine the relationship between the fluctuations of the bulk holographic geometry and the fluctuations of the boundary low-energy subspace. In this way we obtain, for every quantum system, an Einstein-like equation of motion for what might be interpreted as a bulk gravity theory dual to the boundary system.
