We consider the one dimensional focusing (cubic) Nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLS) in the semiclassical limit with exponentially decaying complex-valued initial data, whose phase is multiplied by a real parameter. We prove smooth dependence of the asymptotic solution on the parameter. Numerical results supporting our estimates of important quantities are presented.

A perturbation of a class of scalar Riemann-Hilbert problems (RHPs) with the jump contour as a finite union of oriented simple arcs in the complex plane and the jump function with a $zlog z$ type singularity on the jump contour is considered. The jump function and the jump contour are assumed to depend on a vector of external parameters $vecbeta$. We prove that if the RHP has a solution at some value $vecbeta_0$ then the solution of the RHP is uniquely defined in a some neighborhood of $vecbeta_0$ and is smooth in $vecbeta$. This result is applied to the case of semiclassical focusing NLS.
The long-time asymptotic behavior of solutions to the focusing nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation on the line with symmetric, nonzero boundary conditions at infinity is studied in the case of initial conditions that allow for the presence of discrete spectrum. The results of the analysis provide the first rigorous characterization of the nonlinear interactions between solitons and the coherent oscillating structures produced by localized perturbations in a modulationally unstable medium. The study makes crucial use of the inverse scattering transform for the focusing NLS equation with nonzero boundary conditions, as well as of the nonlinear steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou for oscillatory Riemann-Hilbert problems. Previously, it was shown that in the absence of discrete spectrum the $xt$-plane decomposes asymptotically in time into two types of regions: a left far-field region and a right far-field region, where to leading order the solution equals the condition at infinity up to a phase shift, and a central region where the asymptotic behavior is described by slowly modulated periodic oscillations. Here, it is shown that in the presence of a conjugate pair of discrete eigenvalues in the spectrum a similar coherent oscillatory structure emerges but, in addition, three different interaction outcomes can arise depending on the precise location of the eigenvalues: (i) soliton transmission, (ii) soliton trapping, and (iii) a mixed regime in which the soliton transmission or trapping is accompanied by the formation of an additional, nondispersive localized structure akin to a soliton-generated wake. The soliton-induced position and phase shifts of the oscillatory structure are computed, and the analytical results are validated by a set of accurate numerical simulations.
We consider the long-time properties of the an obstruction in the Riemann-Hilbert approach to one dimensional focusing Nonlinear Schrodinger equation in the semiclassical limit for a one parameter family of initial conditions. For certain values of the parameter a large number of solitons in the system interfere with the $g$-function mechanism in the steepest descent to oscillatory Riemann-Hilbert problems. The obstruction prevents the Riemann-Hilbert analysis in a region in $(x,t)$ plane. We obtain the long time asymptotics of the boundary of the region (obstruction curve). As $ttoinfty$ the obstruction curve has a vertical asymptotes $x=pm ln 2$. The asymptotic analysis is supported with numerical results.
The $n$-fold Darboux transformation $T_{n}$ of the focusing real mo-di-fied Kor-te-weg-de Vries (mKdV) equation is expressed in terms of the determinant representation. Using this representation, the $n$-soliton solutions of the mKdV equation are also expressed by determinants whose elements consist of the eigenvalues $lambda_{j}$ and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the associated Lax equation. The nonsingular $n$-positon solutions of the focusing mKdV equation are obtained in the special limit $lambda_{j}rightarrowlambda_{1}$, from the corresponding $n$-soliton solutions and by using the associated higher-order Taylor expansion. Furthermore, the decomposition method of the $n$-positon solution into $n$ single-soliton solutions, the trajectories, and the corresponding phase shifts of the multi-positons are also investigated.

We consider the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, with mass-critical nonlinearity, focusing or defocusing. For any given angle, we establish the existence of infinitely many functions on which the scattering operator acts as a rotation of this angle. Using a lens transform, we reduce the problem to the existence of a solution to a nonlinear Schrodinger equation with harmonic potential, satisfying suitable periodicity properties. The existence of infinitely many such solutions is proved thanks to a constrained minimization problem.
