In this article we considered models of particles living in a three-dimensional space-time with a nonstandard noncommutativity induced by shifting canonical coordinates and momenta with generators of a unitary irreducible representation of the Lorentz group. The Hilbert space gets the structure of a direct product with the representation space, where we are able to construct operators which realize the algebra of Lorentz transformations. We study the modified Landau problem for both Schrodinger and Dirac particles, whose Hamiltonians are obtained through a kind of non-Abelian Bopps shift of the dynamical variables from the ones of the usual problem in the normal space. The spectrum of these models are considered in perturbation theory, both for small and large noncommutativity parameters. We find no constraint between the parameters referring to no-commutativity in coordinates and momenta but they rather play similar roles. Since the representation space of the unitary irreducible representations SL(2,R) can be realized in terms of spaces of square-integrable functions, we conclude that these models are equivalent to quantum mechanical models of particles living in a space with an additional compact dimension.

The problem of fermions in 1+1 dimensions in the presence of a pseudoscalar Coulomb potential plus a mixing of vector and scalar Coulomb potentials which have equal or opposite signs is investigated. We explore all the possible signs of the potentials and discuss their bound-state solutions for fermions and antifermions. We show the relation between spin and pseudospin symmetries by means of charge-conjugation and $gamma^{5}$ chiral transformations. The cases of pure pseudoscalar and mixed vector-scalar potentials, already analyzed in previous works, are obtained as particular cases. The results presented can be extended to 3+1 dimensions.
The Maxwell group in 2+1 dimensions is given by a particular extension of a semi-direct product. This mathematical structure provides a sound framework to study different generalizations of the Maxwell symmetry in three space-time dimensions. By giving a general definition of extended semi-direct products, we construct infinite-dimensional enhancements of the Maxwell group that enlarge the ${rm ISL}(2,mathbb{R})$ Kac-Moody group and the ${rm BMS}_3$ group by including non-commutative supertranslations. The coadjoint representation in each case is defined, and the corresponding geometric actions on coadjoint orbits are presented. These actions lead to novel Wess-Zumino terms that naturally realize the aforementioned infinite-dimensional symmetries. We briefly elaborate on potential applications in the contexts of three-dimensional gravity, higher-spin symmetries, and quantum Hall systems.
We discuss the formulation of classical field theoretical models on $n$-dimensional noncommutative space-time defined by a generic associative star product. A simple procedure for deriving conservation laws is presented and applied to field theories in noncommutative space-time to obtain local conservation laws (for the electric charge and for the energy-momentum tensor of free fields) and more generally an energy-momentum balance equation for interacting fields. For free field models an analogy with the damped harmonic oscillator in classical mechanics is pointed out, which allows us to get a physical understanding for the obtained conservation laws. To conclude, the formulation of field theories on curved noncommutative space is addressed.
Strings in $mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric ${rm U}(1)^N$ gauge theories with $N$ hypermultiplets are studied in the generic setting of an arbitrary Fayet-Iliopoulos triplet of parameters for each gauge group and an invertible charge matrix. Although the string tension is generically of a square-root form, it turns out that all existing BPS (Bogomolnyi-Prasad-Sommerfield) solutions have a tension which is linear in the magnetic fluxes, which in turn are linearly related to the winding numbers. The main result is a series of theorems establishing three different kinds of solutions of the so-called constraint equations, which can be pictured as orthogonal directions to the magnetic flux in ${rm SU}(2)_R$ space. We further prove for all cases, that a seemingly vanishing Bogomolnyi bound cannot have solutions. Finally, we write down the most general vortex equations in both master form and Taubes-like form. Remarkably, the final vortex equations essentially look Abelian in the sense that there is no trace of the ${rm SU}(2)_R$ symmetry in the equations, after the constraint equations have been solved.
We classify 2+1 dimensional integrable systems with nonlocality of the intermediate long wave type. Links to the 2+1 dimensional waterbag system are established. Dimensional reductions of integrable systems constructed in this paper provide dispersive regularisations of hydrodynamic equations governing propagation of long nonlinear waves in a shear flow with piecewise linear velocity profile (for special values of vorticities).
