The two Tevatron Electron Lenses (TEL1 and TEL2) are installed in Tevatron in 2001 and 2006 respectively. TEL1 is operated as the vital parts of the Tevatron for abort gap beam clearing, while TEL2 is functioning as the backup as well as the test device for beam-beam compensation, space charge compensator and soft beam collimator. Both of them are working exceptionally reliable after a few initial kinks being worked out. Their operations in Tevatron are summarized in this report.

Recently, the study of integrable Hamiltonian systems has led to nonlinear accelerator lattices with one or two transverse invariants and wide stable tune spreads. These lattices may drastically improve the performance of high-intensity machines, providing Landau damping to protect the beam from instabilities, while preserving dynamic aperture. The Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA) is being built at Fermilab to study these concepts with 150-MeV pencil electron beams (single-particle dynamics) and 2.5-MeV protons (dynamics with self fields). One way to obtain a nonlinear integrable lattice is by using the fields generated by a magnetically confined electron beam (electron lens) overlapping with the circulating beam. The required parameters are similar to the ones of existing devices. In addition, the electron lens will be used in cooling mode to control the brightness of the proton beam and to measure transverse profiles through recombination. More generally, it is of great interest to investigate whether nonlinear integrable optics allows electron coolers to exceed limitations set by both coherent or incoherent instabilities excited by space charge.
Progress on the Intensity Frontier of high energy physics critically depends on record high intensity charged particles accelerators. Beams in such machines become operationally limited by coherent beam instabilities, particularly enhanced in the regime of strong space charge (SC). Usual methods to control the instabilities, such as octupole magnets, beam feedback dampers and employment of chromatic effects, become less effective and insufficient. In [1] it was proposed to employ electron lenses for introduction of sufficient spread in particle oscillation frequencies needed for beam stabilization and in [2] it was shown that electron lenses are uniquely effective for Landau damping of transverse beam instabilities in high energy particle accelerators and their employment does not compromise incoherent (single particle) stability, dynamic aperture and the beam lifetime. Here we consider an important issue of effectiveness of the Landau damping with electron lenses in space-charge dominated beams and demonstrate that the desired stability can be assured with proper choice of the electron beam parameters and current distributions.
This paper describes the development of a digital-based Beam Position System which was designed, developed, and adapted for the Tevatron during Collider Run II.
In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based source is foreseen for the positron source in order to match the physics requirements. The recently chosen first energy stage with sqrt(s)=250 GeV requires high luminosity and imposes an effort for all positron source designs at high-energy colliders. In this paper we perform a simulation study and adopt the new technology of plasma lenses to capture the positrons generated by the undulator photons and to create the required high luminosity positron beam.
This paper proposes a Higgs factory located in the Tevatron tunnel. It is based on a photon collider by using a recirculating e- linac and fiber laser technology. The design goal is 10,000 Higgs per year.
