A fundamental property of QCD is the presence of the chiral anomaly, which is the primary component of the $pi^0rightarrowgammagamma$ decay amplitude. Based on this anomaly and its small ($simeq$ 4.5%) chiral correction, a firm prediction of the $pi^0$ lifetime can be used as a test of QCD at confinement scale energies. The interesting experimental and theoretical histories of the $pi^0$ meson are reviewed, from discovery to the present era. Experimental results are in agreement with the theoretical prediction, within the current ($simeq$ 3%) experimental error; however, they are not yet sufficiently precise to test the chiral corrected result, which is a firm QCD prediction and is known to $simeq$ 1% uncertainty. At this level there exist experimental inconsistencies, which require attention. Possible future work to improve the present precision is suggested.

We derive expression for the large b_perp asymptotic of the 3D parton distributions q(x,b_perp) in the pion. The asymptotic depends exclusively on the mass scales F_pi and m_pi. Therefore it provides us with a nice example of a strict non-perturbative result for the partonic structure of Nambu-Goldstone bosons in QCD. Analyzing the x-dependent pion transverse radius we reveal a new phenomenon of chiral inflation-- in the parametrically wide region of Bjorken x (m_pi^2/(4 pi F_pi)^2 << x << 1) the pion radius grows exponentially fast with the rapidity eta=ln(1/x). We show that the partons in this interval of Bjorken x contribute to famous logarithmic divergency of the pion radius. In other words, the partonic picture of the classical result of ChPT is provided. The phenomenon of the chiral inflation is at variance with the Gribov diffusion, because of long-range interaction of the Nambu-Goldstone bosons.
We calculate the electric conductivity $sigma$ in deconfined QCD matter using a holographic QCD model, i.e., the Sakai-Sugimoto Model with varying magnetic field $B$ and chiral anomaly strength. After confirming that our estimated $sigma$ for $B=0$ is consistent with the lattice-QCD results, we study the case with $B eq 0$ in which the coefficient $alpha$ in the Chern-Simons term controls the chiral anomaly strength. Our results imply that the transverse conductivity, $sigma_perp$, is suppressed to be $lesssim 70%$ at $Bsim 1,mathrm{GeV}^2$ as compared to the $B=0$ case when the temperature is fixed as $T= 0.2,mathrm{GeV}$. Since the Sakai-Sugimoto Model has massless fermions, the longitudinal conductivity, $sigma_parallel$, with $B eq 0$ should diverge due to production of the matter chirality. Yet, it is possible to extract a regulated part out from $sigma_parallel$ with an extra condition to neutralize the matter chirality. This regulated quantity is interpreted as an Ohmic part of $sigma_parallel$. We show that the longitudinal Ohmic conductivity increases with increasing $B$ for small $alpha$, while it is suppressed with larger $B$ for physical $alpha=3/4$ due to anomaly induced interactions.
We discuss the extended on-mass-shell scheme for manifestly Lorentz-invariant baryon chiral perturbation theory. We present a calculation of pion photo- and electroproduction up to and including order $q^4$. The low-energy constants have been fixed by fitting experimental data in all available reaction channels. Our results can be accessed via a web interface, the so-called chiral MAID (http://www.kph.uni-mainz.de/MAID/chiralmaid/). We explain how our program works and how it can be used for further analysis.

We present results on the nucleon scalar, axial and tensor charges as well as on the momentum fraction, and the helicity and transversity moments. The pion momentum fraction is also presented. The computation of these key observables is carried out using lattice QCD simulations at a physical value of the pion mass. The evaluation is based on gauge configurations generated with two degenerate sea quarks of twisted mass fermions with a clover term. We investigate excited states contributions with the nucleon quantum numbers by analyzing three sink-source time separations. We find that, for the scalar charge, excited states contribute significantly and to a less degree to the nucleon momentum fraction and helicity moment. Our analysis yields a value for the nucleon axial charge agrees with the experimental value and we predict a value of 1.027(62) in the $overline{text{MS}}$ scheme at 2 GeV for the isovector nucleon tensor charge directly at the physical point. The pion momentum fraction is found to be $langle xrangle_{u-d}^{pi^pm}=0.214(15)(^{+12}_{-9})$ in the $overline{rm MS}$ at 2 GeV.
The holographic light-front QCD framework provides a unified nonperturbative description of the hadron mass spectrum, form factors and quark distributions. In this article we extend holographic QCD in order to describe the gluonic distribution in both the proton and pion from the coupling of the metric fluctuations induced by the spin-two Pomeron with the energy momentum tensor in anti-de Sitter space, together with constraints imposed by the Veneziano model without additional free parameters. The gluonic and quark distributions are shown to have significantly different effective QCD scales.
