We report on results for the heavy flavor contributions to $F_2(x,Q^2)$ in the limit $Q^2gg m^2$ at {sf NNLO}. By calculating the massive $3$--loop operator matrix elements, we account for all but the power suppressed terms in $m^2/Q^2$. Recently, the calculation of fixed Mellin moments of all $3$--loop massive operator matrix elements has been finished. We present new all--$N$ results for the $O(n_f)$--terms, thereby confirming the corresponding parts of the $3$--loop anomalous dimensions. Additionally, we report on first genuine $3$--loop results of the ladder--type diagrams for general values of the Mellin variable $N$.

The logarithmic contributions to the massive twist-2 operator matrix elements for deep-inelastic scattering are calculated to $O(alpha_s^3)$for general values of the Mellin variable $N$.
We present a computation for inclusive charged-current deeply-inelastic scattering at NNLO (N$^2$LO) in QCD. Mass-dependent quark contributions are consistently included across a wide range of momentum transfers in the SACOT-$chi$ general-mass scheme. When appropriate, we further include N$^3$LO corrections in the zero-mass scheme. We show theoretical predictions for several experiments with neutrinos over a wide range of energies and at the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider. Our prediction reduces perturbative uncertainties to $sim$1%, sufficient for the high-precision objectives of future charged-current DIS measurements.
Aiming at relativistic description of gluons in hadrons, the renormalization group procedure for effective particles (RGPEP) is applied to baryons in QCD of heavy quarks. The baryon eigenvalue problem is posed using the Fock-space Hamiltonian operator obtained by solving the RGPEP equations up to second order in powers of the coupling constant. The eigenstate components that contain three quarks and two or more gluons are heuristically removed at the price of inserting a gluon-mass term in the component with one gluon. The resulting problem is reduced to the equivalent one for the component of three quarks and no gluons. Each of the three quark-quark interaction terms thus obtained consists of a spin-dependent Coulomb term and a spin-independent harmonic oscillator term. Quark masses are chosen to fit the lightest spin-one quarkonia masses most accurately. The resulting estimates for bbb and ccc states match estimates obtained in lattice QCD and in quark models. Masses of ccb and bbc states are also estimated. The corresponding wave functions are invariant with respect to boosts. In the ccb states, charm quarks tend to form diquarks. The accuracy of our approximate Hamiltonian can be estimated through comparison by including components with two gluons within the same method.
We calculate the logarithmic contributions to the massive Wilson coefficients for deep-inelastic scattering in the asymptotic region $Q^2 gg m^2$ to 3-loop order in the fixed-flavor number scheme and present the corresponding expressions for the massive operator matrix elements needed in the variable flavor number scheme. Explicit expressions are given both in Mellin-$N$ space and $z$-space.
We report on broadly based systematic investigations of the modeling components for open heavy-flavor diffusion and energy loss in strongly interacting matter in their application to heavy-flavor observables in high-energy heavy-ion collisions, conducted within an EMMI Rapid Reaction Task Force framework. Initial spectra including cold-nuclear-matter effects, a wide variety of space-time evolution models, heavy-flavor transport coefficients, and hadronization mechanisms are scrutinized in an effort to quantify pertinent uncertainties in the calculations of nuclear modification factors and elliptic flow of open heavy-flavor particles in nuclear collisions. We develop procedures for error assessments and criteria for common model components to improve quantitative estimates for the (low-momentum) heavy-flavor diffusion coefficient as a long-wavelength characteristic of QCD matter as a function of temperature, and for energy loss coefficients of high-momentum heavy-flavor particles.
