Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of sulphur-substituted iron telluride i.e. FeTe1-xSx; (x = 0-30 %) system and study the impact of low temperature oxygen (O2) annealing as well. Rietveld analysis of room temperature x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns shows that all the compounds are crystallized in a tetragonal structure (space group P4/nmm) and no secondary phases are observed. Lattice constants are decreased with increasing S concentration. The parent compound of the system i.e. FeTe does not exhibit superconductivity but shows an anomaly in the resistivity measurement at around 78 K, which corresponds to a structural phase transition. Heat capacity Cp(T) measurement also confirms the structural phase transition of FeTe compound. Superconductivity appears by S substitution; the onset of superconducting transition temperature is about 8 K for FeTe0.75S0.25 sample. Thermoelectric power measurements S(T) also shows the superconducting transition at around 7 K for FeTe0.75S0.25 sample. The upper critical fields Hc2(10%), Hc2(50%) and Hc2(90%) are estimated to be 400, 650 and 900 kOe respectively at 0 K by applying Ginzburg Landau (GL) equation. Interestingly, superconducting volume fraction is increased with low temperature (200 oC) O2 annealing at normal pressure. Detailed investigations related to structural (XRD), transport [S(T), R(T)H], magnetization (AC and DC susceptibility) and thermal [Cp(T)] measurements for FeTe1-xS:O2 system are presented and discussed.

We report Zn-doping effect in the parent and F-doped LaFeAsO oxy-arsenides. Slight Zn doping in LaFe$_{1-x}$Zn$_{x}$AsO drastically suppresses the resistivity anomaly around 150 K associated with the antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin density wave (SDW) in the parent compound. The measurements of magnetic susceptibility and thermopower confirm further the effect of Zn doping on AFM order. Meanwhile Zn doping does not affect or even enhances the $T_c$ of LaFe$_{1-x}$Zn$_{x}$AsO$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1}$, in contrast to the effect of Zn doping in high-$T_c$ cuprates. We found that the solubility of Zn content ($x$) is limited to less than 0.1 in both systems and further Zn doping (i.e., $x$ $geq$ 0.1) causes phase separation. Our study clearly indicates that the non-magnetic impurity of Zn$^{2+}$ ions doped in the Fe$_2$As$_2$ layers affects selectively the AFM order, and superconductivity remains robust against the Zn doping in the F-doped superconductors.
We report superconductivity induced in films of the non-superconducting, antiferromagnetic parent material FeTe by low temperature oxygen incorporation in a reversible manner. X-ray absorption shows that oxygen doping changes the nominal Fe valence state from 2+ in the non-superconducting state to mainly 3+ in the superconducting state. Thus superconductivity in O doped FeTe occurs in a quite different charge and strain state than the more common FeTe$_{1-x}$Se$_x$. This work also suggests a convenient path for conducting doping experiments in-situ with many measurement techniques.
Bi$_2$Sr$_{2-x}$La$_x$CuO$_{6+delta}$ (0$leq x leq$1.00) single crystals with high-quality have been grown successfully using the travelling-solvent floating-zone technique. The patterns of X-ray diffraction suggest high crystalline quality of the samples. After post-annealing in flowing oxygen at 600 $^o$C, the crystals show sharp superconducting transitions revealed by AC susceptibility. The hole concentration $p$ is deduced from superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$), which exhibits a linear relation with La doping level $x$. It ranges from the heavily overdoped regime ($p approx$ 0.2) to the extremely underdoped side ($p approx$ 0.08) where the superconductivity is absent. Comparing with the superconducting dome in Bi$_{2+x}$Sr$_{2-x}$CuO$_{6+delta}$ system, the effects from out-of-plane disorders show up in our samples. Besides the La doping level $x$, the superconductivity is also sensitive to the content of oxygen which could be tuned by post-annealing method over the whole doping range. The post-annealing effects on $T_c$ and $p$ for each La doping level are studied, which give some insights on the different nature between overdoped and underdoped regime.
Chemical doping has recently become a very important strategy to induce superconductivity especially in complex compounds. Distinguished examples include Ba-doped La$_2$CuO$_4$ (the first high temperature superconductor), K-doped BaBiO$_3$, K-doped C$_{60}$ and Na$_{x}$CoO$_{2}cdot y$H$_{2}$O. The most recent example is F-doped LaFeAsO, which leads to a new class of high temperature superconductors. One notes that all the above dopants are non-magnetic, because magnetic atoms generally break superconducting Cooper pairs. In addition, the doping site was out of the (super)conducting structural unit (layer or framework). Here we report that superconductivity was realized by doping magnetic element cobalt into the (super)conducting-active Fe$_2$As$_2$ layers in LaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$AsO. At surprisingly small Co-doping level of $x$=0.025, the antiferromagnetic spin-density-wave transition in the parent compound is completely suppressed, and superconductivity with $T_csim $ 10 K emerges. With increasing Co content, $T_c$ shows a maximum of 13 K at $xsim 0.075$, and then drops to below 2 K at $x$=0.15. This result suggests essential differences between previous cuprate superconductor and the present iron-based arsenide one.

The discovery of EuFeAs2, currently the only charge-neutral parent phase of the 112-type iron-pnictide system, provides a new platform for the study of elemental doping effects on magnetism and superconductivity (SC). In this study, a series of polycrystalline EuFe1-yCoyAs2 and Eu0.9Pr0.1Fe1-yCoyAs2 samples are synthesized through solid-state reaction, and the evolutions of SC and magnetism with Co doping in EuFeAs2 and Eu0.9Pr0.1FeAs2 are investigated by electrical transport and magnetic susceptibility measurements. For EuFe1-yCoyAs2, the Eu-related antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition around 40 K is barely affected by Co doping, while the Fe-related spin density wave (SDW) transition temperature drops rapidly. Meanwhile, SC is induced by a trace amount of Co doping, with a highest transition temperature Tc ~ 28 K found in EuFe0.9Co0.1As2. For the Eu0.9Pr0.1Fe1-yCoyAs2 series, the magnetism and superconductivity show similar evolutions upon Co doping, and the highest Tc is enhanced to 30.6 K with an optimum doping level y ~ 0.07. Our results shed light on the competition between SC and SDW with Co doping in the 112-type EuFeAs2 system.
