The internal magnetic field distribution in a mixed state of a cuprate superconductor, Ca$_{2-x}$Na$_x$CuO$_2$Cl$_2$ ($T_{rm c}simeq28.5$ K, near the optimal doping), was measured by muon spin rotation ($mu$SR) technique up to 60 kOe. The $mu$SR linewidth $Lambda(B)$ which exhibits excess broadening at higher fields ($B>5$ kOe) due to field-induced magnetism (FIM), is described by a relation, $Lambda(B)proptosqrt{B}$. This suggests that the orbital current and associated quasiparticle excitation plays predominant roles in stabilizing the quasistatic correlation. Moreover, a slowing down of the vortex fluctuation sets in well above $T_{rm c}$, as inferred from the trace of FIM observed up to $sim80$ K, and develops continuously without a singularity at $T_{rm c}$ as the temperature decreases.

The parent compounds of the high-temperature cuprate superconductors are Mott insulators. It has been generally agreed that understanding the physics of the doped Mott insulators is essential to understanding the mechanism of high temperature superconductivity. A natural starting point is to elucidate the basic electronic structure of the parent compound. Here we report comprehensive high resolution angle-resolved photoemission measurements on Ca$_2$CuO$_2$Cl$_2$, a Mott insulator and a prototypical parent compound of the cuprates. Multiple underlying Fermi surface sheets are revealed for the first time. The high energy waterfall-like band dispersions exhibit different behavior near the nodal and antinodal regions. Two distinct energy scales are identified: a d-wave-like low energy peak dispersion and a nearly isotropic lower Hubbard band gap. These observations provide new information on the electronic structure of the cuprate parent compound, which is important for understanding the anomalous physical properties and superconductivity mechanism of the high temperature cuprate superconductors.
Angle-dependent magnetoresistance measurements are used to determine the isotropic and anisotropic components of the transport scattering rate in overdoped Tl$_2$Ba$_2$CuO$_{6+delta}$ for a range of $T_c$ values between 15K and 35K. The size of the anisotropic scattering term is found to scale linearly with $T_c$, establishing a link between the superconducting and normal state physics. Comparison with results from angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy indicates that the transport and quasiparticle lifetimes are distinct.
Electronic charge order is a symmetry breaking state in high-$T_mathrm{c}$ cuprate superconductors. In scanning tunneling microscopy, the detected charge-order-induced modulation is an electronic response of the charge order. For an overdoped (Bi,Pb)$_2$Sr$_2$CuO$_{6+x}$ sample, we apply scanning tunneling microscopy to explore local properties of the charge order. The ordering wavevector is non-dispersive with energy, which can be confirmed and determined. By extracting its order-parameter field, we identify dislocations in the stripe structure of the electronic modulation, which correspond to topological defects with an integer winding number of $pm 1$. Through differential conductance maps over a series of reduced energies, the development of different response of the charge order is observed and a spatial evolution of topological defects is detected. The intensity of charge-order-induced modulation increases with energy and reaches its maximum when approaching the pseudogap energy. In this evolution, the topological defects decrease in density and migrate in space. Furthermore, we observe appearance and disappearance of closely spaced pairs of defects as energy changes. Our experimental results could inspire further studies of the charge order in both high-$T_mathrm{c}$ cuprate superconductors and other charge density wave materials.

We measured the in-plane resistivity anisotropy in the underdoped Ca$_{1-x}$Na$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$ single crystals. The anisotropy (indicated by $rho_{rm b} - rho_{rm a}$) appears below a temperature well above magnetic transition temperature $T_{rm N}$, being positive ($rho_{rm b} - rho_{rm a} > 0$) as $xleq$ 0.14. With increasing the doping level to $x$ = 0.19, an intersection between $rho_{rm b}$ and $rho_{rm a}$ is observed upon cooling, with $rho_{rm b} - rho_{rm a} < 0$ at low-temperature deep inside a magnetically ordered state, while $rho_{rm b} - rho_{rm a}> 0$ at high temperature. Subsequently, further increase of hole concentration leads to a negative anisotropy $rho_{rm b} - rho_{rm a} < 0$ in the whole temperature range. These results manifest that the anisotropic behavior of resistivity in the magnetically ordered state depends strongly on the competition of the contributions from different mechanisms, and the competition between the two contributions results in a complicated evolution of the anisotropy of in-plane resistivity with doping level.

We present a comprehensive study of the phonon dispersion in an underdoped, superconducting Ca$_{2-x}$CuO$_2$Cl$_2$ crystal. We interpret the results using lattice dynamical calculations based on a shell model, and we compare the results, to other hole-doped cuprates, in particular to the ones isomorphic to La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$CuO$_4$ (LSCO). We found that an anomalous dip in the Cu-O bond stretching dispersion develops in oxychlorides with a simultaneous marked broadening of the mode. The broadening is maximum at $approx (pi / (2a) ~ 0 ~ 0)$ that corresponds to the charge-modulations propagation vector. Our analysis also suggests that screening effects in calculations may cause an apparent cosine-shaped bending of the Cu-O bond-stretching dispersion along both the ($q$ 0 0) and ($q$ $q$ 0) directions, that is not observed on the data close to optimal doping. This observation suggests that the discrepancy between experimental data and textit{ab-initio} calculations on this mode originates from an overestimation of the doping effects on the mode.
