Pulsations in pre-main sequence stars have been discovered several times within the last years. But nearly all of these pulsators are of delta Scuti-type. gamma Doradus-type pulsation in young stars has been predicted by theory, but lack observational evidence. We present the investigation of variability caused by rotation and (gammaDoradus-type) pulsation in two pre-main sequence members of the young open cluster NGC2264 using high-precision time series photometry from the CoRoT satellite and dedicated high-resolution spectroscopy. Time series photometry of NGC2264VAS20 and NGC 2264VAS87 was obtained by the CoRoT satellite during the dedicated short run SRa01 in March 2008. NGC2264VAS87 was re-observed by CoRoT during the short run SRa05 in December 2011 and January 2012. Frequency analysis was conducted using Period04 and SigSpec. The spectral analysis was performed using equivalent widths and spectral synthesis. The frequency analysis yielded 10 and 14 intrinsic frequencies for NGC2264VAS20 and NGC2264VAS 87, respectively, in the range from 0 to 1.5c/d which are attributed to be caused by a combination of rotation and pulsation. The effective temperatures were derived to be 6380$pm$150K for NGC2264VAS20 and 6220$pm$150K for NGC2264VAS87. Membership of the two stars to the cluster is confirmed independently using X-ray fluxes, radial velocity measurements and proper motions available in the literature. The derived Li abundances of log n(Li)=3.34 and 3.54 for NGC2264VAS20 and NGC2264VAS87, respectively, are in agreement with the Li abundance for other stars in NGC2264 of similar Teff reported in the literature. We conclude that the two objects are members of NGC2264 and therefore are in their pre-main sequence evolutionary stage. Assuming that part of their variability is caused by pulsation, these two stars might be the first pre-main sequence gamma Doradus candidates.
The hot $gamma$~Doradus stars have multiple low frequencies characteristic of $gamma$~Dor or SPB variables, but are located between the red edge of the SPB and the blue edge of the $gamma$~Dor instability strips where all low-frequency modes are stable in current models of these stars. Though $delta$~Sct stars also have low frequencies, there is no sign of high frequencies in hot $gamma$~Dor stars. We obtained spectra to refine the locations of some of these stars in the H-R diagram and conclude that these are, indeed, anomalous pulsating stars. The Maia variables have multiple high frequencies characteristic of $beta$~Cep and $delta$~Sct stars, but lie between the red edge of the $beta$~Cep and the blue edge of the $delta$~Sct instability strips. We compile a list of all Maia candidates and obtain spectra of two of these stars. Again, it seems likely that these are anomalous pulsating stars which are currently not understood.
We present the first asteroseismic results for $delta$ Scuti and $gamma$ Doradus stars observed in Sectors 1 and 2 of the TESS mission. We utilise the 2-min cadence TESS data for a sample of 117 stars to classify their behaviour regarding variability and place them in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram using Gaia DR2 data. Included within our sample are the eponymous members of two pulsator classes, $gamma$ Doradus and SX Phoenicis. Our sample of pulsating intermediate-mass stars observed by TESS also allows us to confront theoretical models of pulsation driving in the classical instability strip for the first time and show that mixing processes in the outer envelope play an important role. We derive an empirical estimate of 74% for the relative amplitude suppression factor as a result of the redder TESS passband compared to the Kepler mission using a pulsating eclipsing binary system. Furthermore, our sample contains many high-frequency pulsators, allowing us to probe the frequency variability of hot young $delta$ Scuti stars, which were lacking in the Kepler mission data set, and identify promising targets for future asteroseismic modelling. The TESS data also allow us to refine the stellar parameters of SX Phoenicis, which is believed to be a blue straggler.
We present a spectroscopic survey of known and candidate $gamma$,Doradus stars. The high-resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra of 52 objects were collected by five different spectrographs. The spectral classification, atmospheric parameters (teff, $log g$, $xi$), $vsin i$ and chemical composition of the stars were derived. The stellar spectral and luminosity classes were found between G0-A7 and IV-V, respectively. The initial values for teff and logg were determined from the photometric indices and spectral energy distribution. Those parameters were improved by the analysis of hydrogen lines. The final values of teff, logg and $xi$ were derived from the iron lines analysis. The teff values were found between 6000,K and 7900,K, while logg,values range from 3.8 to 4.5,dex. Chemical abundances and $vsin i$ values were derived by the spectrum synthesis method. The $vsin i$ values were found between 5 and 240,km,s$^{-1}$. The chemical abundance pattern of $gamma$,Doradus stars were compared with the pattern of non-pulsating stars. It turned out that there is no significant difference in abundance patterns between these two groups. Additionally, the relations between the atmospheric parameters and the pulsation quantities were checked. A strong correlation between the $vsin i$ and the pulsation periods of $gamma$,Doradus variables was obtained. The accurate positions of the analysed stars in the H-R diagram have been shown. Most of our objects are located inside or close to the blue edge of the theoretical instability strip of $gamma$,Doradus.

A systematic search for gamma Dor and gamma Dor - delta Scuti hybrid pulsators was conducted on the CoRoT LRa01 Exo-archive yielding a total of 418 gamma Dor and 274 hybrid candidates. After an automatic jump correction 194 and 167 respectively, show no more obvious jumps and were investigated in more detail. For about 25% of these candidates classification spectra from the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO) are available. The detailed frequency analysis and a check for combination frequencies together with spectroscopic information allowed us to identify I) 34 gamma Dor stars which show very different pulsation spectra where mostly two modes dominate. Furthermore, a search for regularities in their oscillation spectra allowed to derive recurrent period spacings for 5 of these gamma Dor stars. II) 25 clear hybrid pulsators showing frequencies in the gamma Dor and delta Sct domain and are of A-F spectral type.
