Motivated by noncommutative geometry and quantum physics, the concept of `metric operator field is introduced. Roughly speaking, a metric operator field is a vector field on a set with values in self tensor product of a bundle of C*-algebras, satisfying properties similar to an ordinary metric (distance function). It is proved that to any such object there naturally correspond a Banach *-algebra that we call Lipschitz algebra, a class of probabilistic metrics, and (under some conditions) a (nontrivial) continuous field of C*-algebras in the sense of Dixmier. It is proved that for metric operator fields with values in von Neumann algebras the associated Lipschitz algebras are dual Banach spaces, and under some conditions, they are not amenable Banach algebras. Some examples and constructions are considered. We also discuss very briefly a possible application to quantum gravity.
We exhibit a Hamel basis for the concrete $*$-algebra $mathfrak{M}_o$ associated to monotone commutation relations realised on the monotone Fock space, mainly composed by Wick ordered words of annihilators and creators. We apply such a result to investigate spreadability and exchangeability of the stochastic processes arising from such commutation relations. In particular, we show that spreadability comes from a monoidal action implementing a dissipative dynamics on the norm closure $C^*$-algebra $mathfrak{M} = overline{mathfrak{M}_o}$. Moreover, we determine the structure of spreadable and exchangeable monotone stochastic processes using their correspondence with sp-reading invariant and symmetric monotone states, respectively.
We present some general theorems about operator algebras that are algebras of functions on sets, including theories of local algebras, residually finite dimensional operator algebras and algebras that can be represented as the scalar multipliers of a vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert space. We use these to further develop a quantized function theory for various domains that extends and unifies Aglers theory of commuting contractions and the Arveson-Drury-Popescu theory of commuting row contractions. We obtain analogous factorization theorems, prove that the algebras that we obtain are dual operator algebras and show that for many domains, supremums over all commuting tuples of operators satisfying certain inequalities are obtained over all commuting tuples of matrices.
We study crossed products of arbitrary operator algebras by locally compact groups of completely isometric automorphisms. We develop an abstract theory that allows for generalizations of many of the fundamental results from the selfadjoint theory to our context. We complement our generic results with the detailed study of many important special cases. In particular we study crossed products of tensor algebras, triangular AF algebras and various associated C*-algebras. We make contributions to the study of C*-envelopes, semisimplicity, the semi-Dirichlet property, Takai duality and the Hao-Ng isomorphism problem. We define a relation < for dual operator algebras. We say that B < A if there exists a projection p in A such that B and pAp are Morita equivalent in our sense. We show that < is transitive, and we investigate the following question: If A < B and B < A, then is it true that A and B are stably isomorphic?
