A scalar field gravitational analog of the Reissner-Nordstrom solution is investigated. The nonlinear Newtonian model has an upper-limit of charge for a central mass which agrees with the general relativistic condition required for the existence of the black hole horizon. The maximum limit for accumulation by bombardment of charged particles is found. The aim is to investigate the resulting physics after severing the effects of curvature from the effects of energy-mass equivalence.

We study the post-Newtonian dynamics of black hole binaries in Einstein-scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity theories. To this aim we build static, spherically symmetric black hole solutions at fourth order in the Gauss-Bonnet coupling $alpha$. We then skeletonize these solutions by reducing them to point particles with scalar field-dependent masses, showing that this procedure amounts to fixing the Wald entropy of the black holes during their slow inspiral. The cosmological value of the scalar field plays a crucial role in the dynamics of the binary. We compute the two-body Lagrangian at first post-Newtonian order and show that no regularization procedure is needed to obtain the Gauss-Bonnet contributions to the fields, which are finite. We illustrate the power of our approach by Pade-resumming the so-called sensitivities, which measure the coupling of the skeletonized body to the scalar field, for some specific theories of interest.
We analyse the classical configurations of a bootstrapped Newtonian potential generated by homogeneous spherically symmetric sources in terms of a quantum coherent state. We first compute how the mass and mean wavelength of these solutions scale in terms of the number of quanta in the coherent state. We then note that the classical relation between the ADM mass and the proper mass of the source naturally gives rise to a Generalised Uncertainty Principle for the size of the gravitational radius in the quantum theory. Consistency of the mass and wavelength scalings with this GUP requires the compactness remains at most of order one even for black holes, and the corpuscular predictions are thus recovered, with the quantised horizon area expressed in terms of the number of quanta in the coherent state. Our findings could be useful for analysing the classicalization of gravity in the presence of matter and the avoidance of singularities in the gravitational collapse of compact sources.
In this paper we compute the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) mass, the angular momentum and the charge of the Kerr black hole solution in the scalar-tensor-vector gravity theory [known as the Kerr-MOG (modified-gravity) black hole configuration]; we study in detail as well several properties of this solution such as the stationary limit surface, the event horizon, and the ergosphere, and conclude that the new deformation parameter $alpha$ affects the geometry of the Kerr-MOG black hole significantly in addition to the ADM mass and spin parameters. Moreover, the ADM mass and black hole event horizon definitions allow us to set a novel upper bound on the deformation parameter and to reveal the correct upper bound on the black hole spin. We further find the geodesics of motion of stars and photons around the Kerr-MOG black hole. By using them we reveal the expressions for the mass and the rotation parameter of the Kerr-MOG black hole in terms of the red- and blueshifts of photons emitted by geodesic particles, i.e., by stars. These calculations supply a new and simple method to further test the general theory of relativity in its strong field limit: If the measured red- and blueshifts of photons exceed the bounds imposed by the general theory of relativity, then the black hole is not of Kerr type. It could also happen that the measurements are allowed by the Kerr-MOG metric, implying that the correct description of the dynamics of stars around a given black hole should be performed using MOG or another modified theory of gravity that correctly predicts the observations. In particular, this method can be applied to test the nature of the putative black hole hosted at the center of the Milky Way in the near future.

Pulsars orbiting around the black hole at our galactic center provide us a unique testing site for gravity. In this work, we propose an approach to probe the gravity around the black hole introducing two phenomenological parameters which characterize deviation from the vacuum Einstein theory. The two phenomenological parameters are associated with the energy momentum tensor in the framework of the Einstein theory. Therefore, our approach can be regarded as the complement to the parametrized post-Newtonian framework in which phenomenological parameters are introduced for deviation of gravitational theories from general relativity. In our formulation, we take the possibility of existence of a relativistic and exotic matter component into account. Since the pulsars can be regarded as test particles, as the first step, we consider geodesic motion in the system composed of a central black hole and a perfect fluid whose distribution is static and spherically symmetric. It is found that the mass density of the fluid and a parameter of the equation of state can be determined with precision with $0.1%$ if the density on the pulsar orbit is larger than $10^{-9}~{rm g/cm^3}$.
In this work we derive a generalized Newtonian gravitational force and show that it can account for the anomalous galactic rotation curves. We derive the entropy-area relationship applying the Feynman-Hibbs procedure to the supersymmetric Wheeler-DeWitt equation of the Schwarzschild black hole. We obtain the modifications to the Newtonian gravitational force from the entropic formulation of gravity.
