We investigate the antiferromagnetic (AF) order in the d-wave superconducting (SC) state at high magnetic fields. A two-dimensional model with on-site repulsion U, inter-site attractive interaction V and antiferromagnetic exchange interaction J is solved using the mean field theory. For finite values of U and J, a first order transition occurs from the normal state to the FFLO state, while the FFLO-BCS phase transition is second order, consistent with the experimental results in CeCoIn_5. Although the BCS-FFLO transition is continuous, the Neel temperature of AF order is discontinuous at the phase boundary because the AF order in the FFLO state is induced by the Andreev bound state localized in the zeros of FFLO order parameter, while the AF order hardly occurs in the uniform BCS state. The spatial structure of the magnetic moment is investigated for the commensurate AF state as well as for the incommensurate AF state. The influence of the spin fluctuations is discussed for both states. Since the fluctuations are enhanced in the normal state for incommensurate AF order, this AF order can be confined in the FFLO state. The experimental results in CeCoIn_5 are discussed.
The Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state near the antiferromagnetic quantum critical point (AFQCP) is investigated by analyzing the two dimensional Hubbard model on the basis of the fluctuation exchange (FLEX) approximation. The phase diagram against the magnetic field and temperature is compared with that obtained in the BCS theory. We discuss the influences of the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuation through the quasiparticle scattering, retardation effect, parity mixing and internal magnetic field. It is shown that the FFLO state is stable in the vicinity of AFQCP even though the quasiparticle scattering due to the spin fluctuation is destructive to the FFLO state. The large positive slope dH_{FFLO}/dT and the convex curvature (d^{2}H_{FFLO}/dT^{2} > 0) are obtained, where H_{FFLO} is the critical magnetic field for the second order phase transition from the uniform BCS state to the FFLO state. These results are consistent with the experimental results in CeCoIn_5. The possible magnetic transition in the FFLO state is examined.
We demonstrate that the vortex state in the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase may be very different depending on the field orientation relative to the crystalline axes. We calculate numerically the upper critical field near the tricritical point taking into account the modulation of the order parameter along the magnetic field as well as the higher Landau levels. For s-wave superconductors with the anisotropy described by an elliptical Fermi surface we propose a general scheme of the analysis of the angular dependence of upper critical field at all temperatures on the basis of the exact solution for the order parameter. Our results show that the transitions (with tilting magnetic field) between different types of mixed states may be a salient feature of the FFLO phase. Moreover we discuss the reasons for the first-order phase transition into the FFLO state in the case of CeCoIn5 compound.
We present a detailed study of 75As NMR Knight shift and spin-lattice relaxation rate in the normal state of stoichiometric polycrystalline LiFeAs. Our analysis of the Korringa relation suggests that LiFeAs exhibits strong antiferromagnetic fluctuations, if transferred hyperfine coupling is a dominant interaction between 75As nuclei and Fe electronic spins, whereas for an on-site hyperfine coupling scenario, these are weaker, but still present to account for our experimental observations. Density-functional calculations of electric field gradient correctly reproduce the experimental values for both 75As and 7Li sites.
Single monolayer FeSe film grown on Nb-doped SrTiO$_3$(001) substrate shows the highest superconducting transition temperature (T$_C$ $sim$ 100 K) among the iron-based superconductors (iron-pnictide), while T$_C$ of bulk FeSe is only $sim$ 8 K. Antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations were believed to be crucial in iron-pnictides, which has inspired several proposals to understand the FeSe/SrTiO$_3$ system. Although bulk FeSe does not show the antiferromagnetic order, calculations suggest that the parent FeSe/SrTiO$_3$ films are AFM. Experimentally, due to lacking of direct probe, the magnetic state of FeSe/SrTiO$_3$ films remains mysterious. Here, we report the direct evidences of the antiferromagnetic order in the parent FeSe/SrTiO$_3$ films by the magnetic exchange bias effect measurements. The phase transition temperature is $geq$ 140 K for single monolayer film. The AFM order disappears after electron doping.
We have combined elastic and inelastic neutron scattering techniques, magnetic susceptibility and resistivity measurements to study single-crystal samples of K$_x$Fe$_{2-y}$Se$_2$, which contain the superconducting phase that has a transition temperature of $sim$31 K. In the inelastic neutron scattering measurements, we observe both the spin-wave excitations resulting from the block antiferromagnetic ordered phase and the resonance that is associated with the superconductivity in the superconducting phase, demonstrating the coexistence of these two orders. From the temperature dependence of the intensity of the magnetic Bragg peaks, we find that well before entering the superconducting state, the development of the magnetic order is interrupted, at $sim$42 K. We consider this result to be evidence for the physical separation of the antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases; the suppression is possibly due to the proximity effect of the superconducting fluctuations on the antiferromagnetic order.
