We will show that any open Riemann surface $M$ of finite genus is biholomorphic to an open set of a compact Riemann surface. Moreover, we will introduce a quotient space of forms in $M$ that determines if $M$ has finite genus and also the minimal genus where $M$ can be holomorphically embedded.
Inspired by mirror symmetry, we investigate some differential geometric aspects of the space of Bridgeland stability conditions on a Calabi-Yau triangulated category. The aim is to develop theory of Weil-Petersson geometry on the stringy Kahler moduli space. A few basic examples are studied. In particular, we identify our Weil-Petersson metric with the Bergman metric on a Siegel modular variety in the case of the self-product of an elliptic curve.
We prove and explore a family of identities relating lengths of curves and orthogeodesics of hyperbolic surfaces. These identities hold over a large space of metrics including ones with hyperbolic cone points, and in particular, show how to extend a result of the first author to surfaces with cusps. One of the main ingredients in the approach is a partition of the set of orthogeodesics into sets depending on their dynamical behavior, which can be understood geometrically by relating them to geodesics on orbifold surfaces. These orbifold surfaces turn out to be exactly on the boundary of the space in which the underlying identity holds.
We study holomorphic $(n+1)$-chains $E_nto E_{n-1} to >... to E_0$ consisting of holomorphic vector bundles over a compact Riemann surface and homomorphisms between them. A notion of stability depending on $n$ real parameters was introduced in the work of the first two authors and moduli spaces were constructed by the third one. In this paper we study the variation of the moduli spaces with respect to the stability parameters. In particular we characterize a parameter region where the moduli spaces are birationally equivalent. A detailed study is given for the case of 3-chains, generalizing that of 2-chains (triples) in the work of Bradlow, Garcia-Prada and Gothen. Our work is motivated by the study of the topology of moduli spaces of Higgs bundles and their relation to representations of the fundamental group of the surface.

In this work we show that the Weil-Petersson volume (which coincides with the CM degree) in the case of weighted points in the projective line is continuous when approaching the Calabi-Yau geometry from the Fano geometry. More specifically, the CM volume computed via localization converges to the geometric volume, computed by McMullen with different techniques, when the sum of the weights approaches the Calabi-Yau geometry.
