We study the stability of a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the parameter regime in which its classical counterpart has regular motion. The stability is characterized by the fidelity for both the same and different initial states. We study as initial states the Fock states with definite numbers of atoms in each component of the BEC. It is found that for some initial times the two Fock states with all the atoms in the same component of the BEC are stabler than Fock states with atoms distributed in the two components. An experimental scheme is discussed, in which the fidelity can be measured in a direct way.

This paper deals with the study of the phase transition of the wave functions of a segregated two-component Bose-Einstein condensate under Rabi coupling. This yields a system of two coupled ODEs where the Rabi coupling is linear in the other wave function and acts against segregation. We prove estimates on the asymptotic behaviour of the wave functions, as the strength of the interaction gets strong or weak. We also derive limiting problems in both cases.
Cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity QED) describes the coherent interaction between matter and an electromagnetic field confined within a resonator structure, and is providing a useful platform for developing concepts in quantum information processing. By using high-quality resonators, a strong coupling regime can be reached experimentally in which atoms coherently exchange a photon with a single light-field mode many times before dissipation sets in. This has led to fundamental studies with both microwave and optical resonators. To meet the challenges posed by quantum state engineering and quantum information processing, recent experiments have focused on laser cooling and trapping of atoms inside an optical cavity. However, the tremendous degree of control over atomic gases achieved with Bose-Einstein condensation has so far not been used for cavity QED. Here we achieve the strong coupling of a Bose-Einstein condensate to the quantized field of an ultrahigh-finesse optical cavity and present a measurement of its eigenenergy spectrum. This is a conceptually new regime of cavity QED, in which all atoms occupy a single mode of a matter-wave field and couple identically to the light field, sharing a single excitation. This opens possibilities ranging from quantum communication to a wealth of new phenomena that can be expected in the many-body physics of quantum gases with cavity-mediated interactions.
We consider a two component Bose-Einstein condensate in two spatially localized modes of a double well potential, with periodic modulation of the tunnel coupling between the two modes. We treat the driven quantum field using a two mode expansion and define the quantum dynamics in terms of the Floquet Operator for the time periodic Hamiltonian of the system. It has been shown that the corresponding semiclassical mean-field dynamics can exhibit regions of regular and chaotic motion. We show here that the quantum dynamics can exhibit dynamical tunneling between regions of regular motion, centered on fixed points (resonances) of the semiclassical dynamics.

We classify the ground states and topological defects of a rotating two-component condensate when varying several parameters: the intracomponent coupling strengths, the intercomponent coupling strength and the particle numbers. No restriction is placed on the masses or trapping frequencies of the individual components. We present numerical phase diagrams which show the boundaries between the regions of coexistence, spatial separation and symmetry breaking. Defects such as triangular coreless vortex lattices, square coreless vortex lattices and giant skyrmions are classified. Various aspects of the phase diagrams are analytically justified thanks to a non-linear $sigma$ model that describes the condensate in terms of the total density and a pseudo-spin representation.
Using criteria based on superselection rules, we analyze the quantum correlations between the two condensate modes of the Bose-Einstein condensate interferometer of Egorov et al. [Phys. Rev. A 84, 021605 (2011)]. In order to determine the two-mode correlations, we develop a multi-mode theory that describes the dynamics of the condensate atoms and the thermal fraction through the interferometer sequence, in agreement with the experimentally measured fringe visibility. We thus present experimental evidence for two-mode entangled states genuinely involving 40,000 ^{87}Rb atoms, and for two-way steerability between two groups of 20,000 indistinguishable atoms.
