We report on new measurements of the stellar velocity dispersion of 4 BL Lac objects for which optical spectroscopy was gathered at the ESO 3.6m using EFOSC2. Assuming the M(BH)--(sigma) relation is valid also for ellipticals hosting active nuclei we estimate the central BH mass of these BL Lacs.
The correlation between black hole mass M(BH) and stellar velocity dispersion sigma in nearby elliptical galaxies affords a novel way to determine M(BH) in active galaxies. We report on measurements of sigma from optical spectra of 7 BL Lac host gala
We present Chandra observations of the X-ray environment of a sample of 6 BL Lacertae objects. The improved sensitivity of the ACIS experiment allows us to separate the core X-ray emission from the contribution of diffuse emission from the host galax
Seventeen southern sky BL Lacs were observed in UBVRI using the CCD Camera on the 1.0m telescope at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) in Aug and Nov 1999. The analyses of all the seventeen sources are now complete, and are available v
Hard-TeV BL Lacs are a new type of blazars characterized by a hard intrinsic TeV spectrum, locating the peak of their gamma-ray emission in the spectral energy distribution (SED) above 2-10 TeV. Such high energies are problematic for the Compton emis
The ultra-diffuse galaxy in the NGC 5846 group (NGC 5846_UDG1) was shown to have a large number of globular cluster (GC) candidates from deep imaging as part of the VEGAS survey. Recently, Muller et al. published a velocity dispersion, based on a doz
