We discuss the concept of inner function in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces with an orthogonal basis of monomials and examine connections between inner functions and optimal polynomial approximants to $1/f$, where $f$ is a function in the space. We revisit some classical examples from this perspective, and show how a construction of Shapiro and Shields can be modified to produce inner functions.

We present a characterization of one-component inner functions in terms of the location of their zeros and their associated singular measure. As consequence we answer several questions posed by J. Cima and R. Mortini. In particular we prove that for any inner function $Theta$ whose singular set has measure zero, one can find a Blaschke product $B$ such that $Theta B$ is one-component. We also obtain a characterization of one-component singular inner functions which is used to produce examples of discrete and continuous one-component singular inner functions.
For a wide family of even kernels ${varphi_u, uin I}$, we describe discrete sets $Lambda$ such that every bandlimited signal $f$ can be reconstructed from the space-time samples ${(fastvarphi_u)(lambda), lambdainLambda, uin I}$.

A one-component inner function $Theta$ is an inner function whose level set $$Omega_{Theta}(varepsilon)={zin mathbb{D}:|Theta(z)|<varepsilon}$$ is connected for some $varepsilonin (0,1)$. We give a sufficient condition for a Blaschke product with z eros in a Stolz domain to be a one-component inner function. Moreover, a sufficient condition is obtained in the case of atomic singular inner functions. We study also derivatives of one-component inner functions in the Hardy and Bergman spaces. For instance, it is shown that, for $0<p<infty$, the derivative of a one-component inner function $Theta$ is a member of the Hardy space $H^p$ if and only if $Theta$ belongs to the Bergman space $A_{p-1}^p$, or equivalently $Thetain A_{p-1}^{2p}$.
In this paper, we study the behavior of the singular values of Hankel operators on weighted Bergman spaces $A^2_{omega _varphi}$, where $omega _varphi= e^{-varphi}$ and $varphi$ is a subharmonic function. We consider compact Hankel operators $H_{over line {phi}}$, with anti-analytic symbols ${overline {phi}}$, and give estimates of the trace of $h(|H_{overline phi}|)$ for any convex function $h$. This allows us to give asymptotic estimates of the singular values $(s_n(H_{overline {phi}}))_n$ in terms of decreasing rearrangement of $|phi |/sqrt{Delta varphi}$. For the radial weights, we first prove that the critical decay of $(s_n(H_{overline {phi}}))_n$ is achieved by $(s_n (H_{overline{z}}))_n$. Namely, we establish that if $s_n(H_{overline {phi}})= o (s_n(H_{overline {z}}))$, then $H_{overline {phi}} = 0$. Then, we show that if $Delta varphi (z) asymp frac{1}{(1-|z|^2)^{2+beta}}$ with $beta geq 0$, then $s_n(H_{overline {phi}}) = O(s_n(H_{overline {z}}))$ if and only if $phi $ belongs to the Hardy space $H^p$, where $p= frac{2(1+beta)}{2+beta}$. Finally, we compute the asymptotics of $s_n(H_{overline {phi}})$ whenever $ phi in H^{p }$.
In the present investigation our main aim is to give lower bounds for the ratio of some normalized $q$-Bessel functions and their sequences of partial sums. Especially, we consider Jacksons second and third $q$-Bessel functions and we apply one normalization for each of them.
