This paper uses tools in group theory and symbolic computing to give a classification of the representations of finite groups with order lower than 9 that can be derived from the study of local reversible-equivariant vector fields in $rn{4}$. The results are obtained by solving algebraically matricial equations. In particular, we exhibit the involutions used in a local study of reversible-equivariant vector fields. Based on such approach we present, for each element in this class, a simplified Belitiskii normal form.

We use group representation theory to give algebraic formulae to compute complete transversals of singularities of vector fields, either in the nonsymmetric or in the reversible equivariant contexts. This computation produces normal forms directly, w hich are used sistematically in the local analysis of symmetric dynamics.
This paper introduces the study of occurrence of symmetries in binary differential equations (BDEs). These are implicit differential equations given by the zeros of a quadratic 1-form, $a(x,y)dy^2 + b(x,y)dxdy + c(x,y)dx^2 = 0,$ for $a, b, c$ smooth real functions defined on an open set of $mathbb{R}^2$. Generically, solutions of a BDE are given as leaves of a pair of foliations, and the appropriate way to define the action of a symmetry must depend not only whether it preserves or inverts the plane orientation, but also whether it preserves or interchanges the foliations. The first main result reveals this dependence, which is given algebraically by a formula relating three group homomorphisms defined on the symmetry group of the BDE. The second main result adapts algebraic methods from invariant theory for representations of compact Lie groups on the space of quadratic forms on $mathbb{R}^n$, $n geq 2$. With that we obtain an algorithm to compute general expressions of quadratic forms. Now, symmetric quadratic 1-forms are in one-to-one corrspondence with equivariant quadratic forms on the plane, so these are treated here as a particular case. We then apply the result to obtain the general forms of equivariant quadratic 1-forms under each compact subgroup of the orthogonal group $mathbf{O}(2)$.
This paper studies chemical kinetic systems which decompose into weakly reversible complex factorizable (CF) systems. Among power law kinetic systems, CF systems (denoted as PL-RDK systems) are those where branching reactions of a reactant complex ha ve identical rows in the kinetic order matrix. Mass action and generalized mass action systems (GMAS) are well-known examples. Schmitzs global carbon cycle model is a previously studied non-complex factorizable (NF) power law system (denoted as PL-NDK). We derive novel conditions for the existence of weakly reversible CF-decompositions and present an algorithm for verifying these conditions. We discuss methods for identifying independent decompositions, i.e., those where the stoichiometric subspaces of the subnetworks form a direct sum, as such decompositions relate positive equilibria sets of the subnetworks to that of the whole network. We then use the results to determine the positive equilibria sets of PL-NDK systems which admit an independent weakly reversible decomposition into PL-RDK systems of PLP type, i.e., the positive equilibria are log-parametrized, which is a broad generalization of a Deficiency Zero Theorem of Fortun et al. (2019).
Very often, models in biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering are systems of polynomial or power-law ordinary differential equations, arising from a reaction network. Such dynamical systems can be generated by many different reaction networks. O n the other hand, networks with special properties (such as reversibility or weak reversibility) are known or conjectured to give rise to dynamical systems that have special properties: existence of positive steady states, persistence, permanence, and (for well-chosen parameters) complex balancing or detailed balancing. These last two are related to thermodynamic equilibrium, and therefore the positive steady states are unique and stable. We describe a computationally efficient characterization of polynomial or power-law dynamical systems that can be obtained as complex-balanced, detailed-balanced, weakly reversible, and reversible mass-action systems.
Existence and spatio-temporal symmetric patterns of periodic solutions to second order reversible equivariant non-autonomous periodic systems with multiple delays are studied under the Hartman-Nagumo growth conditions. The method is based on using th e Brouwer $D_1 times mathbb Z_2times Gamma$-equivariant degree theory, where $D_1$ is related to the reversing symmetry, $mathbb Z_2$ is related to the oddness of the right-hand-side and $Gamma$ reflects the symmetric character of the coupling in the corresponding network. Abstract results are supported by a concrete example with $Gamma = D_n$ -- the dihedral group of order $2n$.
